How to Change a Voice AI Agent's Voice
Overview
The voice of your AI agent is a key part of the caller experience. Your CRM provides a library of high-quality voices in multiple languages and accents. You can also import unique, custom voices from a third-party service to create a distinct brand sound. This guide explains how to browse the voice library, import custom voices, and assign a new voice to your agent.
Accessing the Voice Selector
To begin editing an agent's voice, you first need to open the agent's settings.
- In the main navigation menu, select AI Agents.
- Ensure you are on the Voice AI tab.
- Click Agent List to see all your agents.
- Find the agent you want to modify and click on its name to open its details page.
If you are creating a new Voice AI agent, you will set the voice during the initial setup process, which follows the same steps outlined below.
Choosing a New Voice
On the agent's details page, locate the current voice setting. Click on the name of the voice currently in use. This will open the voice selection panel.
Using the Voice Library
By default, the Library tab is open, showing the catalog of available voices. You can use several tools to find the right one:
- Filters: Narrow the list by language, accent, or gender.
- Search: Type the name of a specific voice to find it directly.
- Preview: Click the Play button on any voice card to hear a sample.
A banner at the top of the panel shows the agent's current Voice In-use. You can play this sample to compare it directly with other options from the library.
Once you've found a suitable voice, click on its card to select it. Then, click the blue Save Voice button at the bottom of the panel to apply it to your agent.
Importing a Custom Voice
If you need a specific voice not found in the standard library, you can import one. In the voice selection panel, click the My Voices tab.
- Click the Add Custom Voice button, then select Import.
- A new window will open, allowing you to browse and select voices from the connected third-party service.
- You can search, browse categories, and preview voices here. Click Play to hear a sample.
- Select the voice you wish to import.
Important Notes on Custom Voices:
- There is an agency-level limit on the total number of custom voices you can import.
- Imported voices are stored in the My Voices tab and are available for use across all locations under your account.
- Only users with agency-level permissions can import new custom voices.
After importing, the new voice will appear in your My Voices list. Select it and click Save Voice to assign it to your agent.
Selecting a Voice Model
In addition to the voice itself, you can choose a Voice Model for the agent. This setting balances audio quality, response speed, and cost. You can find this option next to the voice selector in the agent builder. You can select a specific model or leave it set to Auto, which lets the system choose the best compatible model for the selected language.
