Defining Your Ad Campaign Budget

Understanding Campaign Budgets

When creating an advertising campaign within your CRM's Ad Manager, defining your budget is a crucial step in the setup process. You will set this budget in the second step of the campaign creation flow. The budget you specify will be charged to the payment card associated with your connected Meta advertising account.

It's important to choose a budget that aligns with your business goals, target audience, and the services you are promoting. Once launched, your campaign will renew its budget automatically each month until you choose to pause or end it.

Note: The currency and timezone for your budget are automatically set based on your connected Meta Ad account and your sub-account settings, respectively. For best results, allow your campaign to run for several months to gather sufficient data for optimization.

Setting a Daily Budget

A daily budget represents the average amount you are willing to spend each day over the course of the campaign. Facebook may spend slightly more or less than this amount on any given day, but your total charges over a weekly billing cycle will not exceed your daily budget multiplied by seven.

For example, with a daily budget of $100, you might be charged $110 one day and $90 another, but your weekly maximum will be $700. The campaign start time is set to the moment you publish it for review.

How to Set a Daily Budget

  1. Begin creating a New Campaign.
  2. Navigate to the Budget and Audience step (Step 2).
  3. In the Budget section, ensure the Daily option is selected.
  4. Enter your desired daily budget amount.
  5. Proceed by clicking Next to review your campaign before launch.

Important: You can only edit the daily budget amount when the campaign status is Draft, Paused, or Failed. Once a campaign is Published or In Review, the budget amount cannot be changed, and you cannot switch between Daily and Lifetime budget types.

Setting a Lifetime Budget

A lifetime budget is the total amount you are willing to spend over the entire duration of your campaign. This option is useful if you have a fixed total spending limit but are flexible with how that amount is distributed daily.

How to Set a Lifetime Budget

  1. Begin creating a New Campaign.
  2. Navigate to the Budget and Audience step (Step 2).
  3. In the Budget section, select the Lifetime option.
  4. Enter your total lifetime budget amount.
  5. Use the date and time selectors to choose your campaign's start and end dates. The budget will be spread across this period.
  6. Proceed by clicking Next to review your campaign.

Important: The lifetime budget amount can only be edited for campaigns in Draft, Paused, or Failed status. For Published or In Review campaigns, the budget cannot be altered, and you cannot switch budget types.

Campaign start and end dates and times are set in your sub-account's local timezone. These dates can be edited for Draft and Failed campaigns. For a Paused campaign, you can edit the end date but not the start date. Dates cannot be changed for Published or In Review campaigns.
