How to Configure Batch Email Delivery

Understanding Batch Email Delivery

Batch delivery, sometimes called drip mode, is a method for sending a marketing campaign to your audience in smaller, timed groups instead of all at once. This controlled approach helps manage the flow of traffic to your website or funnel links and reduces the load on your email sending infrastructure.

Benefits of Using Batch Delivery

  • Manage Website Traffic: Prevents sudden traffic spikes by spacing out when recipients click through to your links.
  • Control System Load: Paces the sending process to maintain stability and deliverability.
  • Schedule Flexibility: You define the size of each batch, how often they are sent, and which days and hours of the day the system should be active.

Before You Begin

Ensure you have the following ready:

  • A completed email template for your campaign.
  • A verified sending domain for your emails.

How to Set Up a Batch Email Campaign

Step 1: Create or Edit a Campaign

Navigate to Marketing > Email > Campaigns. Click to create a new campaign or edit an existing one.

Step 2: Design Your Email

Build your email using a template or from scratch in the Email Builder. Add your content, images, and links. Use the preview and test email features to check how it looks on different devices before proceeding.

Step 3: Configure Batch Delivery

Click the Send or Schedule button. From the sending options, select Batch Schedule.

Complete the following settings:

  • Start Date and Time: Set when the first batch should be sent.
  • Batch Quantity: This is the number of emails sent per batch. For example, with 10,000 recipients and a batch quantity of 1,000, the system will create 10 batches.
  • Repeat After: Set the waiting period between batches. Choose the frequency (days, hours, minutes).
  • Active Days: Uncheck the days of the week when you do not want batches to be sent.
  • Start and End Time (for active days): Define the specific time window each day when batches can be sent. The end time must be later than the start time.
  • Sender Details: Configure the sender name, domain, and email address.
  • Subject and Preview Text: Enter your campaign's subject line and optional preview text.
  • Recipients: Select the email addresses or smart lists to receive the campaign.

Important: Double-check all dates, times, and your time zone before finalizing the schedule.

Managing Scheduled Batch Campaigns

Rescheduling a Campaign

You can reschedule a batch email campaign up to one hour before its execution time. To do this, go to Marketing > Email > Campaigns, find your scheduled campaign, and use the Reschedule Campaign action button. You can adjust the timing and delivery model.

Editing Email Content

You can edit the content of an ongoing batch-scheduled campaign by clicking Update Email Content. Save your edits before the execution time. Please note that while the system will attempt to update the content before the send queue begins, an immediate update is not guaranteed.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the sending rate limits for batch delivery?

The system enforces the following approximate rate limits based on your chosen frequency:

  • Frequencies of 30 seconds to 1 minute: 1,000 messages per minute.
  • Frequency of 5 minutes: 4,999 messages per minute.
  • Frequencies of 6 to 10 minutes: 5,000 messages per minute.
  • Frequencies above 10 minutes: 10,000 messages per minute.

Why can't I select 'seconds' for the repeat interval?

The interval dropdown no longer includes a 'seconds' option. If you had previously configured a campaign using seconds, you must now select an interval of 1 minute or longer.
