Using Custom Values to Personalize Course Content
What are Custom Values?
Custom values are dynamic placeholders you can insert into your course content. When a contact takes your course, these placeholders are automatically replaced with specific, relevant information, creating a personalized learning experience for each individual.
Types of Custom Values
You can use different categories of information to tailor your content:
- Contact-Specific Values: Pull information directly from the contact's profile in your CRM, such as their first name, company, or email address.
- Time-Based Values: Dynamically display dates, times, or days of the week, which can be adjusted to match the contact's local time zone.
- Course-Specific Values: Reference details from the course itself, like the title of the current module or lesson.
- Location-Specific Values: Show content based on geographic information, such as the contact's city, state, or country.
Where to Use Custom Values
You can insert these dynamic placeholders into various parts of your course to make them more engaging. Common places include:
- The description text for course posts or lessons.
- Descriptions and details for offers presented within the course.
- Questions and answer choices within quizzes.
How It Works
When you edit your course content, you can select a custom value from a provided list to insert a placeholder (e.g., {Contact.FirstName}). When a contact views that content, the CRM system automatically fetches the correct data and displays it instead of the placeholder. This allows you to write one piece of content that feels uniquely relevant to every learner.
