Restore Deleted Contacts or Undo Bulk Deletes
Restoring Deleted Contacts in Your CRM
Accidentally deleted important contacts? Your CRM provides a dedicated Restore page to help you recover deleted records quickly and safely. This feature allows you to restore individual contacts or reverse bulk deletions, bringing back not just the contact information but also their associated data like conversations, tasks, and opportunities.
Accessing the Contacts Restore Page
To begin restoring deleted contacts, navigate to the Contacts section of your CRM dashboard and select the Restore tab. This page displays all contacts that have been deleted within the past 60 days, organized in a clear list format with columns showing Name, Email, Phone, and Deleted On date.
Restoring Individual or Multiple Contacts
If you need to restore specific contacts rather than an entire bulk operation, follow these steps:
- On the Restore tab, locate the contact(s) you wish to recover using the provided columns for reference.
- Select the contacts by clicking the checkbox next to each name. You can select individual contacts or use the select-all option for the current page.
- Click the Restore button and confirm your action in the dialog box that appears. The restoration process will begin immediately.
Reversing a Bulk Delete Operation
If you've accidentally deleted multiple contacts using the bulk delete feature, you can reverse the entire operation:
- Go to the Contacts section and click on Bulk Actions in the navigation menu.
- Find the specific bulk delete operation you want to reverse from the history list.
- Click the three-dot menu next to the operation and select Restore.
- Confirm the restoration in the pop-up dialog. You can monitor the progress on the Bulk Actions page, where the status will update from "In Progress" to "Completed."
Important Considerations
Before restoring contacts, keep these important points in mind:
- Time Limit: Contacts can only be restored within 60 days of deletion. After this period, data is permanently removed.
- Data Restoration: When you restore a contact, all associated data is also restored, including opportunities, notes, tasks, conversations, appointments, and campaign participation history.
- HIPAA Accounts: If your account is HIPAA-compliant, deleted contacts cannot be restored due to data security regulations.
- Bulk Restoration: For large bulk operations, the restoration process may take several minutes to complete depending on the number of contacts being restored.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I restore contacts deleted by another user?
A: Yes, as long as the deletion occurred within the 60-day window and you have appropriate administrative access.
Q: Does selecting "all" contacts include those on multiple pages?
A: The select-all function only applies to contacts visible on the current page. If you have multiple pages of results, you'll need to adjust the rows per page setting or repeat your selection on subsequent pages.
Q: What if I can't restore a specific contact?
A: This typically occurs when the contact was deleted more than 60 days ago, or if you're using a HIPAA-compliant account where restoration is not permitted.
