Getting Started with Chat Widget

What Are Chat Widgets?

A Chat Widget is an embeddable tool that allows visitors on your website to start real-time conversations with your team. These conversations can be routed through various channels—such as Web Chat (also labeled as Live Chat during setup), Email/SMS, Facebook, Instagram, Voice AI, or WhatsApp—and are all managed directly within your CRM inbox.

Key Benefits of Chat Widgets

Chat Widgets offer several advantages for businesses aiming to improve customer engagement, support efficiency, and conversion rates:

  • Real-Time Customer Support: Provide instant answers to visitor questions, reducing wait times and enhancing the customer experience.
  • Improved Customer Experience: Resolve issues quickly to boost satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Increased Conversions: Offer timely assistance to prevent cart abandonment and encourage purchases.
  • Increased Engagement: Proactively interact with users based on their behavior, such as time spent on a page.
  • Cost Savings: Automate responses to common queries with a chatbot, reducing the need for human support and saving on labor costs.
  • Increased Efficiency: Handle multiple conversations simultaneously to improve support productivity.

Chat Type Options

Chat Widgets come in several types to suit different needs:

All-In-One Chat

This widget combines multiple channels—Live Chat, Email/SMS, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and Voice AI—into a single chat experience. In the Style tab, use the Chat Type multi-select to choose which connected channels appear.

Email and SMS Chat

This option collects visitor information so you can respond later via SMS or email. It’s ideal for teams without 24/7 staffing.

Live Chat

Live Chat (also referred to as Web Chat) enables real-time, two-way conversations that route directly into your CRM’s Conversations inbox. It’s best for teams with round-the-clock coverage.

Facebook Chat

Allows visitors to start a Messenger conversation with your connected Facebook Page directly from your website. Suitable for brands that receive many leads and messages through Facebook.

Instagram Chat

Lets visitors begin an Instagram DM thread with your connected Instagram Business account. After the first message, the conversation continues in Instagram and your CRM. Ideal if your audience engages primarily on Instagram.

WhatsApp Chat

Enables two-way WhatsApp conversations through the widget. Requires a WhatsApp-approved number and is useful for teams without 24/7 availability.

Voice AI Chat

A voice-first option that lets visitors talk to an AI agent via their browser. It provides human-like voice conversations for capturing, qualifying, and routing leads automatically, perfect for businesses wanting phone-style interactions without live staff.

Using Conversation AI Within a Chat Widget

Integrate Conversational AI into your Chat Widget to greet visitors and deliver instant answers at any time, ensuring every inquiry gets a response even when your team is offline.

How To Install Chat Widgets

Step 1: Navigate to Chat Widgets

Go to Sites > Chat Widget.

Step 2: Create New Widget

Click the New button to start creating a chat widget.

Step 3: Select Chat Type

Choose from available types: All-In-One Chat, SMS/Email Chat, Live Chat, Facebook Chat, Instagram Chat, WhatsApp Chat, or Voice AI.

Step 4: Customize the Widget

After selecting a type, customize the widget across several configuration pages (three or four if AI is supported):

  • Style: Select themes, icons, welcome messages, avatars, placement, and size.
  • Chat Window: Customize the title, intro message, contact form, and add branding URLs or compliance checkboxes. Enable Load on user interaction in Additional Options to improve page performance—the widget loads after visitor interaction or a fallback delay.
  • Messaging: Configure message acknowledgments, icons, and language settings.
  • Agent: Choose a voice agent, set its name and description (only appears for AI-supported chat types).

Step 5: Install the Chat Widget

Once configured, copy the provided code for your landing page or Google Tag Manager, or add it directly to platforms like WordPress. You can also select the chat widget type in Funnels, Websites, or Blogs for direct integration. Note: Some registration flows may verify the Chat Widget is active on your site before submission.
