Getting Started with Community Chat

The Community Chat feature allows you to connect with other members of your community through private, one-on-one messaging. This guide explains how to use its features and manage your privacy settings.

Starting a Chat

To begin a private conversation with another community member:

  1. Join a Group: You must first be a member of a group within the community. Navigate to the Groups section, find a group you wish to join, and become a member.
  2. Access Community Chat: After joining a group, go to the Community Chat tab.
  3. Select a User: From the list of group members, click on a user's name to open a private chat with them.

Chat Features

Within a Community Chat, you can:

  • Send Private Messages: Engage in direct, one-on-one conversations.
  • Enable Push Notifications: Receive instant alerts for new messages. You can enable these notifications in your mobile app's settings.
  • Share Media and Files: Send photos, videos, documents, and other files.
  • Use Emojis and GIFs: Express yourself using a variety of emojis and GIFs.

Disabling Chats for a Group

If you do not wish to participate in chats for a specific group, you can disable the feature.

  1. Go to your Profile and select Account Settings.
  2. Inside the Community Chat settings, locate the group you want to mute.
  3. Toggle the Enable Chat setting off. You can re-enable it at any time by following the same steps.

Blocking a User

To prevent a user from sending you messages:

  1. Open the chat conversation with the user you want to block.
  2. Click the Options dropdown menu within the chat window.
  3. Select Block User. Once blocked, the user will no longer be able to message you.
