Enabling Two-Factor Authentication for New Sub-Accounts
Overview
This feature allows you to require new sub-accounts to complete two-factor authentication (2FA) before they can purchase phone numbers. This adds a layer of security to protect your agency.
Use Case
The primary purpose of this feature is to safeguard your agency from fraudulent activity. It helps prevent scammers from using temporary email addresses to create multiple sub-accounts and acquire phone numbers.
How It Works
You can activate this security measure for new sub-accounts within your CRM's settings.
Enabling 2FA for New Sub-Accounts
- Navigate to the SaaS Configurator in your agency dashboard.
- Go to the Advanced Settings section.
- Locate and enable the option for '2-Factor Authentication'.
Sub-Account User Experience
Once enabled, when a new sub-account administrator attempts to purchase a phone number for the first time, they will be prompted to complete a verification process.
- They must provide a valid, SMS-enabled phone number.
- An SMS containing a verification code will be sent to that number.
- The user must enter the code correctly to proceed with the purchase.
Important: For security, a phone number that has been used to verify one sub-account cannot be used to verify another sub-account for seven days.
Bypassing Two-Factor Authentication
Sub-account administrators cannot bypass the 2FA requirement. However, as the agency administrator, you have the ability to manually verify a sub-account, which allows them to purchase phone numbers without completing the SMS verification.
To manually verify a sub-account:
- Go to the 'Manage Client' page for the specific sub-account.
- Use the available option to verify the account manually.
