Granular Permissions for Snapshots

Overview

The granular permissions feature for snapshots gives administrators detailed control over which team members can perform specific snapshot-related actions. This allows for more precise management of user access, helping to improve security, meet compliance requirements, and streamline team workflows.

Available Snapshot Permissions

You can now control the following snapshot actions individually for each user:

  • View Snapshots: Lets a user see and open existing snapshots.
  • Create Snapshots: Allows a user to generate new snapshots.
  • Edit Snapshots: Permits a user to make changes to existing snapshots.
  • Share/Import Snapshots: Enables a user to share snapshots with others and import snapshots from external sources.
  • Push Snapshots: Grants the ability to push snapshots to other accounts.
  • Refresh Snapshots: Allows a user to update the data within a snapshot.
  • Delete Snapshots: Permits a user to permanently remove snapshots.

How to Manage Snapshot Permissions

To adjust these permissions for a team member, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Settings area of your CRM.
  2. Click on Team to see a list of your team members.
  3. Select the specific user whose permissions you wish to change.
  4. Click the Edit User Option.
  5. Navigate to the section labeled Snapshot Scopes.
  6. Toggle the switches on or off for the specific snapshot permissions you want to grant or revoke.
  7. Click Save Changes to apply the new settings.

Why Use Granular Permissions?

Implementing granular permissions offers several key advantages:

  • Enhanced Security: By granting only the necessary permissions, you minimize the risk of accidental or unauthorized actions on important snapshot data.
  • Better Compliance: This feature helps your organization adhere to internal data handling policies and prevents potential misuse.
  • Streamlined Workflow Management: Assigning permissions based on a user's role ensures that team members have the tools they need to be efficient without unnecessary access.

Best Practices

To get the most out of this feature, consider these recommendations:

  • Conduct regular reviews of user permissions, especially when team roles change.
  • Limit powerful actions like Delete Snapshots and Push Snapshots to a small number of trusted administrators.
  • Communicate clearly with your team about their specific permissions and the responsibilities that come with them to prevent accidental data changes.
