How to Create and Customize Dashboard Widgets
Creating and Customizing Dashboard Widgets
Your CRM dashboard is a central hub for monitoring key business metrics. By adding and arranging custom widgets, you can create a personalized view of your most important data, from sales pipelines to appointment schedules.
Step 1: Access Your Dashboard
Begin by logging into your CRM and navigating to the Dashboard section from the main menu. This will display the default dashboard for your account.
Step 2: Create a New Dashboard (Optional)
If you prefer to start fresh, you can create a new dashboard instead of editing the default one. Click the Add Dashboard button and select the option for a blank dashboard. Give your new dashboard a descriptive name and choose its visibility: Private (only you) or For Everyone (all users in the account). For shared dashboards, you can set specific access levels (Full, Edit, View, or No access) for different user roles. Click Confirm to create the blank dashboard.
Step 3: Enter Dashboard Edit Mode
To add or modify widgets, you must first enter edit mode. Click the pencil icon located in the top-right corner of the dashboard screen. This action will open the widget management panel on the right side of the window.
Step 4: Add a Widget
Click the Add Widget button to begin creating a new widget. You can browse available widget categories or use the search function to find a specific one. Next, select the type of chart or display you want, such as Numeric, Donut Chart, Line Chart, Bar Chart, or Table.
Step 5: Configure the Widget
In the widget settings panel, you can customize how your data is presented.
- Chart Type: Select the visualization that best represents your data.
- Title and Description: Optionally, provide a name and brief description for the widget to clarify its purpose.
Step 6: Apply Data Filters
Switch to the Conditions tab to filter the data displayed in the widget.
- Click Add Filter to create your first set of criteria.
- Use the +AND button to add more filters within the same group.
- Click +Add Filter again to start a new filter group, which creates an OR condition between groups.
Important Note on Attribution Fields: If you are using attribution-based fields like Session Source in your chart's grouping, there are specific rules. You are limited to a single filter group, and that group must include an Attribution Type filter (First Touch or Last Touch). Adding multiple filter groups will disable the use of attribution fields to maintain data consistency.
Step 7: Save the Widget
Once you are satisfied with the widget's configuration, click Save to add it to your dashboard.
Step 8: Add More Widgets
Repeat the process to add additional widgets and build a comprehensive overview of your business data.
Step 9: Arrange Your Layout
After adding widgets, you can drag and drop them to rearrange their positions on the dashboard. You can also resize each widget to improve the overall layout and readability.
Step 10: Save Your Dashboard
When you have finished organizing your widgets, click the Save Changes button at the top of the dashboard to preserve your new configuration.
Tips for an Effective Dashboard
- Experiment with different chart types to find the most intuitive way to present your data.
- Use filters to tailor widgets to show only the most relevant information.
- Regularly review and update your dashboard as your business goals and metrics change.
By following these steps, you can create a powerful, customized dashboard that provides immediate access to the insights you need.
