How To Embed External Content On A Dashboard
Embedding External Content on Your Dashboard
Your CRM dashboard can display live content from other websites and services by using an embed feature. This allows you to integrate useful external information, such as reports, videos, or calendars, directly into your CRM workspace.
What is Embedding?
Embedding is the process of displaying content from an external source within a page on your CRM. This can include web pages, Google documents, slideshows, calendars, and videos from platforms like YouTube or Loom. Please note that some websites block their content from being embedded on other sites.
How to Add an Embed Element
Follow these steps to place external content on your dashboard.
Step 1: Enter Dashboard Edit Mode
Navigate to your Subaccount, then go to the Dashboard. Click the pencil icon to enter Edit Dashboard mode.
Step 2: Access the Elements Tab
Within the dashboard editor, click on the Elements tab to view the available components you can add.
Step 3: Add the Embed Element
Click the button labeled "Embed" to add a new embed element to your dashboard.
Step 4: Configure the Embed
A configuration window will appear. Here you can:
- Provide a title for the element.
- Choose the type of embed: either a URL or an IFRAME code snippet.
- For a URL: Enter the full web address (e.g.,
https://www.instagram.com/p/C04TE0DsEkW/embed/). - For an IFRAME: Paste the complete iframe HTML code provided by the source website.
- Optionally, use the advanced settings to show or hide the element's title.
Step 5: Save the Dashboard
Click the blue Save button to add the new element and apply your changes to the dashboard.
Examples of Embeddable Content
Here are specific instructions for embedding content from popular platforms.
YouTube Videos
To embed a YouTube video, you need to format the URL correctly. Find the video's ID in the standard YouTube URL (the string of characters after v=). Then, construct the embed URL by adding this ID to https://www.youtube.comembed/. For example, if the video URL is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFTIQDCvIrc, your embed URL will be https://www.youtube.com/embed/bFTIQDCvIrc.
TikTok Videos
For TikTok, locate the video ID from the URL (the numbers after /video/). Create the embed URL by adding this ID to https://www.tiktok.com/embed/.
Instagram Posts
Copy the shareable link for the Instagram post. You will need to modify the URL by replacing any text after the post ID (such as ?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link) with /embed/. For example, change https://www.instagram.com/p/C04TE0DsEkW/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link to https://www.instagram.com/p/C04TE0DsEkW/embed/.
