Managing Duplicate Suppression in Listings

What Is Duplicate Suppression?

Duplicate Suppression in CRM Listings helps you identify and manage duplicate online listings across directories such as Google, Bing, and Apple Maps. This feature detects listings that appear to represent the same business as your primary listing and guides you through a workflow to hide or remove duplicates. By consolidating your online presence, you strengthen local SEO, ensure brand consistency, and provide customers with accurate information.

Note: This feature is available only for Yext entities. It is not supported for Uberall entities.

Key Benefits

  • Improved Local SEO: Focuses ranking signals on your correct primary listing.
  • Consistent Customer Experience: Removes confusing or conflicting listings.
  • Brand Uniformity: Maintains consistent name, address, phone, and hours across directories.
  • Efficiency: Centralizes detection and actions in one dashboard.
  • Transparent Tracking: Monitor statuses from detection through resolution.

How Duplicate Detection Works

The CRM performs automated monthly scans of major directories to flag potential duplicates. These flags are based on similarities in business name, address, phone number (NAP), and other identifiers. For businesses with multiple locations, verify that a flagged listing is not a legitimate separate location before suppressing it. If a listing is incorrectly flagged, you can mark it as not a duplicate to exclude it from future scans.

Statuses and Workflow

Each duplicate candidate moves through a series of statuses indicating its progress in the suppression process:

  • Possible Duplicate: Flagged by the system and awaiting your review.
  • Processing Suppression: Your suppression request is under review by the directory publisher. This may take approximately 24 hours or longer.
  • Suppressed: The duplicate has been removed from search results. In many cases, the old URL redirects to your correct listing; some publishers may update content or show an error.
  • Unable to Suppress: The publisher declined the request or does not support suppression for this listing.

Using Duplicate Suppression

Follow these steps to manage duplicate listings:

  1. Open the desired sub-account and navigate to Reputation → Listings.

  4. To suppress a confirmed duplicate, click Suppress and confirm.
  5. To dismiss a false positive, click Not a Duplicate and confirm.
  6. Monitor status chips to track progress and revisit monthly after new scans.
