Using Gamification in Community Groups
What is Gamification in Communities?
Gamification is a feature within your CRM that makes standard community group activities more engaging by introducing elements of play and competition. It transforms everyday actions like posting and commenting into a system of measurable achievements. This system is built on three main pillars: Points earned for activity, Badges awarded for reaching milestones, and a Leaderboard that ranks members based on their performance. The goal is to increase participation, foster a sense of accomplishment, and motivate members to contribute more consistently.
Key Benefits of Gamification
Implementing gamification in your community groups offers several advantages:
- Enhanced Motivation: The prospect of earning points and badges encourages members to log in and participate more frequently.
- Clear Performance Visibility: The leaderboard provides an immediate, transparent view of who is most active, helping to highlight top contributors.
- Friendly Competition: A ranking system naturally encourages members to engage more to improve their standing.
- Recognition of Achievement: Badges and level-ups offer tangible, visual recognition for members' efforts and contributions.
How to Set Up Gamification for a Group

- Ensure the leaderboard visibility settings are enabled as desired.
- Save your settings. Gamification will now be active for that group.
How Points and Member Levels Work
Members earn points when other members like their posts, comments, or replies. Each like grants one point to the author of the content.
These accumulated points determine a member's level within that specific group. The level system is preset with a maximum of nine levels, each requiring a set number of points to achieve. For example, Level 2 requires 5 points, Level 3 requires 20 points, and so on. A member's current level is displayed as a badge on their profile within the group. Members can see their progress toward the next level via a circular progress bar.
Important Note: Levels are specific to each group. If a member is Level 3 in one group and joins a new group, they will start at Level 1 in the new group.
How Rewards Work
The Rewards section allows group admins to define incentives. You can add textual descriptions for up to three rewards, such as "Win a $50 gift card upon reaching Level 5." These reward descriptions will be visible to members within the Leaderboard area of the group.
Please note: Rewards are not automatically linked or distributed by the CRM based on gamification levels. All rewards listed are managed and fulfilled offline by the group administrators.
