Using Magic Links for Membership Course Access

Membership magic links provide a one-click login solution for your clients accessing course content. Instead of requiring a username and password, these links grant immediate access to the specific courses or products a contact has been granted permission to view. This is especially useful when users forget their login credentials or need quick, hassle-free entry to your membership site.

Magic links offer several advantages for both administrators and users:

  • Simplified Access: Users don’t need to remember or reset passwords—just one click gets them into the course.
  • Enhanced Security: Links are time-limited and can be accessed from any device, adding a layer of security while maintaining convenience.
  • Streamlined Onboarding: Ideal for inviting new members or granting access quickly via email or other channels.

Common Use Cases

Magic links are versatile and can be used in various scenarios, such as:

  • Password recovery for existing users
  • Inviting new members to join a course
  • Email marketing campaigns directing users to specific content
  • Promotional offers providing temporary or discounted access
  • Multi-device accessibility from desktops, tablets, or smartphones

Magic links are generated through the Client Portal section of your CRM. Navigate to Sites > Client Portal > Dashboard to create these links. Note that newly created locations must use client portal magic links.

There are two types of magic links available:

  • User’s Magic Link: Designed for location users and can be embedded as a custom menu link in a sidebar.
  • Learner’s Magic Link: Intended for sharing with individual contacts, such as in emails or workflows.

Only learner magic links can be sent using workflows and emails. These are commonly used when:

  • Granting course access to a new user
  • Providing offer access to an existing user
  • Managing new user signups

To send a learner magic link via workflow:

  1. Set up a workflow using a courses-related trigger (e.g., New Sign Up, Offer Access Granted).
  2. Add an email or SMS action and select the Login Url (Magic Link) option.
  3. The system will automatically populate the magic link for the contact when the message is sent.

Always ensure you have consent before sharing magic links, as anyone with the link can access the associated course material.

Yes, the magic link will only grant access to courses or products the contact has been explicitly granted permission to view.

If you are logged into your agency admin account while testing, you may see all available courses for that sub-account. For an accurate user experience, test the link while not logged in or using a test contact account.
