What Happens When You Delete a Contact from a Community Group

Effects of Deleting a Contact from a Community

Deleting a contact from a community group is a permanent action. This section explains the consequences for both regular group members and group owners.

When the Contact is a Group Member

If you delete a contact who is a member of a community group, they are immediately and permanently removed from that group. The individual will lose all access to the community's content and features. Specifically, they will no longer be able to:

  • View posts, updates, or discussions.
  • Create new posts or comments.
  • Interact with any content or other members.

This action cannot be undone. The contact is completely disconnected from all community activities and communications.

When the Contact is a Group Owner

A contact who is the owner of a group or location within the community cannot be deleted. Ownership grants administrative control that is essential for the group's management and continuity. The CRM will block any attempt to delete a group owner, ensuring that the individual retains their access and responsibilities for the groups they oversee.

Viewing Community Members and Owners

You can see the different roles within a community from the community page.

  • The owner of the community is visible when you log into the community.
  • To see a list of all other members, click on the Members tab inside the community page.
  • To view the administrators of the community, first select the Members tab, then click on the Admins tab.
