Importing and Editing Mailchimp Email Templates in the CRM Design Editor
What is Importing a Mailchimp Email Template?
Importing a Mailchimp email template lets you bring your pre-designed layouts from Mailchimp into your CRM's Design Editor. This process allows you to reuse your existing email designs and edit them visually using the CRM's drag-and-drop interface, eliminating the need to start from scratch or work with code.
When you import a template, the CRM automatically analyzes your Mailchimp design and converts elements like headers, images, and text sections into editable content blocks. This makes it simple to update content, rearrange layouts, and keep your branding consistent across campaigns.
Key Benefits of Importing Mailchimp Email Templates
- Reuse Existing Designs: Bring your Mailchimp templates directly into the CRM without rebuilding them manually.

How to Import and Customize Mailchimp Email Templates
Access the Email Templates Section
Navigate to Marketing → Emails → Templates using the left-hand menu. Here you'll see all your existing templates and options to create new ones.
Start a New Import
Click the New button in the top-right corner and choose Import Email from the dropdown menu. This option lets you import templates from external email services like Mailchimp.
Select Mailchimp as the Import Source
In the Import Email Templates popup, open the Import from dropdown and select Mailchimp. This tells the CRM to expect a Mailchimp campaign URL.
Add the Mailchimp Campaign URL
Copy the campaign URL from your Mailchimp account and paste it into the URL field provided. The CRM uses this URL to fetch and reconstruct your Mailchimp design.
Name Your Template
Enter a descriptive name in the Template Name field to help you identify it later in your template list.
Open in Design Editor and Create Template
Select Open in Design Editor, then click Create Template. Your Mailchimp template will open in the CRM's visual editor, where you can drag, drop, and customize elements as needed.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if my imported template doesn't look right?
If sections appear misaligned or missing, it may be due to Mailchimp-specific HTML that isn't fully compatible with the CRM's block-based editor. You can switch to the Code Editor to review and adjust the HTML manually. For best results, use standard HTML and inline CSS in your Mailchimp campaigns before importing.
Can I import templates with dynamic content or merge tags?
Mailchimp's dynamic content and merge tags won't automatically transfer. The layout will import, but you'll need to reconfigure any dynamic elements using the CRM's Custom Values or Dynamic Fields after import.
Does the import tool access my Mailchimp login details?
No. The import feature only uses the public campaign URL you provide. It doesn't require or store any Mailchimp account credentials or API keys.
What's the difference between importing a Mailchimp campaign vs. a template?
You can import Mailchimp campaigns directly using their campaign URL. To import a saved Mailchimp template, you must first create a campaign from that template in Mailchimp, then use the campaign's URL for import. Only campaigns have shareable URLs that the CRM can process.
