Understanding Multi-OAuth Support for Marketplace Apps
What is Multi-OAuth Support?
Multi-OAuth Support is a feature that enables a single installation of a Marketplace app within your CRM to connect and manage multiple external accounts. Instead of being restricted to one connection per app, you can link several accounts from services like Google, Facebook, or SurveyMonkey without needing to install the app multiple times. This is especially useful for agencies and teams who handle multiple client or brand accounts.
Benefits of Using Multi-OAuth
This feature provides several key advantages for managing your integrated services.
- Centralized Management: View and control all connected accounts for an app from a single location.
- Increased Efficiency: Eliminate the need for duplicate app installations for each external account you need to connect.
- Enhanced Workflows: Use triggers and actions across different connected accounts from within the same app.
- Secure Token Handling: The CRM securely manages and automatically refreshes the authentication tokens for all connected accounts.
How Multi-OAuth Works
When you install a Marketplace app that supports Multi-OAuth, it can accept connections to more than one external account. Each connection is stored separately and can be individually identified by its account name, email, or ID. The CRM handles the security and maintenance of these connections in the background.
Managing Your Connected Accounts
All management of connected accounts for a Marketplace app is done through its External Connection tab.
Connecting a New Account
To add an additional external account to an installed app:
- Navigate to the App Marketplace from your CRM dashboard.
- Select the installed app you wish to modify.
- Click on the External Connection tab.
- Click the Add Account button.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the OAuth authorization process for the new account.
Setting a Default Account
When multiple accounts are connected, you can designate one as the default. This account will be used by the app whenever a default selection is required.
- Go to the app's External Connection tab.
- Locate the account you want to set as the default.
- Select the radio button in the Default column for that account.
- A confirmation message will appear, indicating the default account has been updated.
Disconnecting an Account
If you no longer need a specific external account linked to the app, you can remove the connection.
- From the app's External Connection tab, find the account you wish to remove.
- Click the delete icon (often a trash can) for that account.
- A confirmation message will appear. Click Delete to finalize the disconnection.
App Availability
Multi-OAuth Support is available for new Marketplace apps or new versions of existing apps that have been developed to include this feature. Existing apps that do not support Multi-OAuth will continue to operate with a single connection. If a developer releases an update for an app that adds Multi-OAuth support, you may need to update your installation to access the new functionality.
