Using the Monday.com Integration in Workflows
What is the Monday.com Integration?
The Monday.com integration allows you to connect your CRM workflows directly to your Monday.com account. This enables you to automate actions like creating and updating items on your Monday boards based on activity in your CRM, ensuring your project management and customer data stay synchronized.

Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure you have the following:
- A CRM sub-account with access to the Workflows feature.
- A Monday.com account with permissions to view and edit the specific boards and items you want to use.
- Your Monday.com API key for authentication.
- Knowledge of the specific Monday.com columns (e.g., Status, Date, People) you plan to interact with.
Connecting Your Monday.com Account
You can establish the connection directly from within a workflow step.
- Navigate to Automation → Workflows.
- Add a Monday.com action step to your workflow.
- If you haven't connected your account yet, click Connect Now and authenticate with your Monday.com credentials.
- Once connected, the step's configuration fields will load, allowing you to select boards, groups, and items.
Alternatively, you can connect via Sub-Account settings → Integrations → Monday.com → Connect.
Monday.com Actions
Actions are currently available and allow your workflows to perform operations in Monday.com.
- Create New Board: Creates a new board and returns its ID.
- Create New Group: Creates a new group within a board.
- Create New Item: Adds a new item to a specified group.
- Update Item: Modifies the column values of an existing item.
- Find Items by Column Value: Searches for items based on specific column data.
- Archive Board/Group: Archives a board or group to declutter your workspace.
- Delete Item/Group: Permanently removes an item or group.
Using the Test Action
Within any Monday.com action step, you can use the Test Action feature. This is useful for:
- Verifying your account connection is working.
- Previewing the live data structure from Monday.com, such as item IDs and column values.
- Capturing field values to use in later steps of your workflow without manual re-entry.
- Identifying setup errors, like incorrect permissions or column names, early in the process.
How to Set Up a Workflow
Step 1: Create or Open a Workflow
Go to Automation → Workflows. Either create a new workflow or select an existing one to edit.
Step 2: Choose a Trigger
Since Monday.com triggers are not yet available, start your workflow with another trigger, such as Opportunity Status Changed or Form Submitted. You can add a Monday.com trigger later when it becomes available.
Step 3: Add a Monday.com Action
Click the + icon to add a new step to your workflow. Search for "Monday.com" and select the desired action, like Create New Item or Update Item.
Step 4: Configure the Action
Select the connected Monday.com account, then choose the specific board, group, and map the necessary CRM fields to the corresponding Monday.com columns.
Monday.com Triggers (Coming Soon)
In the future, triggers will allow events in Monday.com to automatically start or branch your CRM workflows. Planned triggers include events like a new item being created, a column value changing, or an item being moved to a different group.
