Verifying Domains For iOS 14
Verifying Domains For iOS 14
To ensure your Facebook ads track conversions correctly after iOS 14 updates, you must verify the domain associated with your website. This process involves adding a specific DNS record to prove ownership. The following steps guide you through this verification in Facebook Business Manager.
Step 1: Access Facebook Business Manager
Begin by logging into your Facebook Business Manager account. Ensure you have administrative access to the specific client account or business asset you wish to manage.
Step 2: Navigate to the Domains Section
Once logged in, select the appropriate business account. From the main navigation menu, locate and select the Brand Safety section, and then click on Domains. This is where you will manage your verified domains.
Step 3: Add Your Domain
Click the Add A Domain button. In the field provided, enter the root domain name for your website (for example, yourdomain.com). Do not include http://, https://, or www.
Step 4: Copy the DNS Verification Record
After adding the domain, Facebook will provide a DNS verification method. Select the DNS Verification tab. You will see a unique TXT record value. Copy this entire text string to your clipboard, as you will need it for the next step.
Step 5: Add the TXT Record to Your Domain's DNS
Log into your domain registrar or DNS hosting provider's control panel. Navigate to the DNS management section for your domain. Create a new TXT record with the following details:
- Host/Name: Enter
@to verify the root domain. - Value/Content: Paste the exact TXT record value you copied from Facebook.
- TTL: You can typically leave this as the default value.
Save the new record. Please note that DNS changes can take anywhere from a few minutes to 48 hours to propagate globally.
Step 6: Verify the Domain in Facebook
Return to the Domains section in Facebook Business Manager. Next to your domain, click the Verify button. Facebook will check for the presence of the TXT record you added. If it finds a match, your domain status will change to "Verified."
About Root and Subdomain Verification
Verifying your root domain (e.g., yourdomain.com) automatically verifies all its associated subdomains (e.g., shop.yourdomain.com, blog.yourdomain.com). You do not need to verify subdomains individually.
Using Your Verified Domain in Ads
When creating a new Facebook ad, you will enter the specific webpage URL in the "Website URL" field. If you use a subdomain, the Facebook Ads Manager will recognize it as part of your verified root domain. In the ad's Tracking section, you can then select the verified root domain to ensure proper conversion tracking for your campaigns.
