Customizing Pipeline Stage Colors in the CRM

Using distinct colors for your pipeline stages in the Opportunities section helps your team quickly identify the status of deals at a glance. This guide explains how to manage your pipelines directly from the Opportunities page and customize the visual appearance of each stage.

Understanding Pipeline Stage Colors

Pipeline stage colors add a powerful visual layer to your sales or service process. Instead of navigating to a separate settings area, you can create new pipelines and assign colors to their stages directly from the Opportunities interface. These colors are then displayed consistently across different views within the CRM, providing a clear and immediate understanding of where each opportunity stands.

Benefits of Using Stage Colors

  • Streamlined Management: Create and edit pipelines without leaving the Opportunities page.
  • Visual Consistency: Stage colors appear the same in the Kanban board, list view, and on individual opportunity records.
  • Improved Efficiency: Color-coded stages make it faster to scan for priorities and identify bottlenecks.
  • Team-Wide Standardization: Color settings are applied at the pipeline level, ensuring everyone sees the same visual cues.

Managing Pipelines from the Dropdown

The pipeline dropdown menu at the top of the Opportunities page provides quick access to pipeline management tools.

  • Select the + Create Pipeline option to build a new pipeline instantly.
  • Click the three-dot menu icon next to an existing pipeline's name to find an option to edit its configuration.

Please note that the ability to create or edit pipelines depends on your user role and permissions.

How to Customize Stage Colors

Colors are assigned on a per-pipeline basis, meaning each pipeline can have its own unique color scheme.

  1. Navigate to the Opportunities section.
  2. Use the pipeline dropdown to select the pipeline you want to customize.
  3. Click the three-dot menu next to the pipeline name and choose to edit the pipeline.
  4. Within the pipeline settings, you will find options to assign a specific color to each stage.

Once saved, these color assignments will be visible to all users who have access to that pipeline.

Choosing a Display Style

You can control how the stage colors are presented in the interface. The available options are:

  • Default (No Color): The standard view without any additional color coding.
  • Colored Dot: A small colored circle appears next to the stage name or opportunity, providing a subtle indicator.
  • Background Tint: The entire card or row for an opportunity is softly tinted with the stage's color for a more prominent visual cue.

You can change this display style at any time from the pipeline's stage settings.

Where Stage Colors Appear

After configuration, your chosen stage colors will be visible in several key areas of the CRM to maintain a consistent visual language:

  • Kanban (Board) View: Opportunity cards in each column will display the selected color as a dot or background tint.
  • List View: The tabular list of opportunities will show the stage color alongside each record.
  • Individual Opportunity Records: When viewing a single opportunity's details, the stage color will be present, providing context even when you are not on the main pipeline board.
