Configuring and Accepting Tips on Invoices

Enabling Tips for Invoices

You can now give your customers the option to add a tip when they pay an invoice. This feature is available for all invoice types, including one-time invoices, recurring invoices, and invoices generated from workflows or documents. You can configure tip settings globally for all invoices or adjust them for individual invoices.

Step 1: Enable Tips in Payment Settings

To activate the tipping feature, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Settings within the Invoices section.
  2. Click on Payments Settings.
  3. Select Invoice Tips.
  4. Enable the feature and save your changes.

Step 2: Configure Tips on an Invoice

Once tips are enabled globally, you can set them up for a specific invoice:

  1. Go to the Invoices tab.
  2. Click Create New Invoice or Create New Recurring Invoice.
  3. Click the three dots () at the top of the invoice editor.
  4. Select Manage Tips from the menu.
  5. Choose the percentage options you want to offer your customers. They will be able to select one of these preset percentages or enter a custom amount when paying.

Processing Payments and Refunds

When a customer pays an invoice, they can choose to add a tip based on your preset percentages or enter a custom amount. If you need to issue a refund, you have the ability to refund the entire amount, including the tip.

Use Cases and Future Updates

This feature is especially useful for service-based businesses that want to collect tips for their staff. Future updates may include a CSV view of tip amounts in transactions and the ability to assign a tip to a specific team member.
