Coupon Targeting by Product, Price, and Variant

What Is Coupon Targeting?

Coupon targeting allows you to apply discounts with precision by restricting coupons to entire products, specific price points, or individual variants. This gives you greater control over promotions across funnels, forms, e-commerce, payment links, and calendars, reducing the need for manual workarounds.

Key Benefits

  • More Precise Promotions: Target discounts to specific prices or variants instead of entire products.
  • Reduced Manual Setup: Avoid duplicating products just to discount a single option.
  • Improved Checkout Accuracy: Coupons apply only when the selected product, price, or variant matches the coupon configuration.
  • Better Workflow Control: Use refined product, price, or variant filters for more targeted automation.
  • Future-Ready Setup: Selecting a full product automatically includes all current and future prices or variants under it.

How Coupon Targeting Works

When creating or editing a coupon, you can configure it to apply to:

  • An entire product
  • All prices or variants under a product
  • Only selected prices under a product
  • Only selected variants under a product

The CRM provides a nested selection view during coupon setup, allowing you to expand a product and choose how broadly or narrowly the coupon should apply.

Checkout Behavior

All supported checkout surfaces—including funnels, forms, e-commerce/store, payment links, and calendars—respect coupon targeting rules. If a coupon is configured for a specific price or variant, it will only apply when that exact option is selected. If a customer chooses a different price or variant under the same product, the coupon will not apply.

Workflow Trigger Support

Workflow triggers like Coupon Code Applied and Coupon Code Redeemed now support filtering by product, price, or variant. Filters work in a dependent order:

  1. Select the product first.
  2. The system then enables relevant price or variant options for that product.
  3. Choose the specific price or variant to use as a filter.

This enables automation such as triggering workflows only when a coupon is applied to a specific pricing tier or variant.

How to Set Up Coupon Targeting

  1. Navigate to Payments.
  2. Click Coupons.
  3. Select Create Coupon to make a new coupon, or open an existing coupon and click Edit.
  4. Enter coupon details, including the code, discount type, and discount value.
  5. In the product selection area, choose the product you want the coupon to apply to.
  6. Use the nested selection view to choose one of the following:
    • The full product
    • All prices or variants under the product
    • Specific prices
    • Specific variants
  7. Save the coupon configuration.
  8. Test the coupon on the relevant checkout surface (e.g., funnel, form, e-commerce page, payment link, or calendar booking page).
  9. If needed, go to Automation > Workflows and add a coupon-based trigger, selecting the product first and then refining by price or variant.
