Importing Products and Prices from Stripe
You can import subscription-based products and pricing plans from your Stripe account directly into your CRM. This guide explains which Stripe items can be imported and how the import process works.
What Can Be Imported
The import feature is designed for recurring subscription plans only. The following limitations apply:
- One-Time Prices: Cannot be imported. You must create these directly within the CRM.
- Stripe Mode: Only prices from a Stripe account in Live mode can be imported. Prices from Test mode are not available for import.
- Metered Prices: Cannot be imported as part of a recurring plan.
- Previously Imported Prices: Plans and prices that have already been imported into the CRM will not appear as options when you use the "Import From Stripe" function.
How the Import Process Works
When you import a price from Stripe, the CRM performs several actions:
- It imports the Stripe product that is linked to the price.
- If the product doesn't already exist in the CRM, it creates a new product.
- It creates the price under that product in the CRM.
- It also automatically creates the same product and price in your Stripe Test Mode account and, if connected, in your PayPal account.
Understanding Different Price Types
There are three main types of pricing plans you might encounter, each with different sync behaviors.
1. Agency Plan Prices (Created via SaaS Configurator)
These prices are created at the agency level using the SaaS configurator tool.
- They are tagged as "Agency Plan" in the product listing and details page within the CRM.
- You cannot edit these prices directly in the CRM's payment settings.
- If you change the price in Stripe, the update will not automatically sync to the CRM.
- To update the price: Edit it in Stripe, then use the "Import From Stripe" button in the CRM. This will create a new product in the CRM with the "Agency Plan" tag, which you can then select in your funnel or website page settings.
2. Prices Created in the CRM
These are products and prices you create directly within the CRM.
- When you create a product in the CRM, a corresponding plan/price is automatically created in your Stripe account.
- If you edit the product's price in the CRM, the change automatically syncs to Stripe by creating a new price there. This is due to a limitation in Stripe's API that prevents editing existing prices.
- Changes made to the price directly in Stripe will not sync back to the CRM. You would need to import the changed price as a new product.
3. Prices Created Directly in Stripe
These are plans and prices you create within your Stripe account.
- You can import these into the CRM using the "Import From Stripe" button.
- To edit the price of an imported product, make the change in the CRM. The edit will sync to Stripe by creating a new price.
- If you edit the price directly in Stripe, the change will not be reflected in the CRM product. You would need to import the updated plan/price as a new product in the CRM.
