Preparing Your CSV File for Bulk Social Media Scheduling
Understanding CSV Upload Options
The Social Planner allows you to schedule multiple social media posts at once using a CSV (Comma-Separated Values) file. You can upload files in either .csv or .xlsx format. Two CSV upload types are available:
- Basic CSV: Includes essential fields for scheduling posts, such as date, content, preview links, and media URLs.
- Advanced CSV: Unlocks additional features like platform-specific post types, watermarks, tags, categories, follow-up comments, and specialized options for platforms like Google Business Profile, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn, and Pinterest.
Always refer to the sample CSV files provided in the Social Planner to ensure your column headers match exactly.
Required Columns and Formatting
Date and Time
Column header: postAtSpecificTime
Enter the date and time for your post using one of these formats: YYYY-MM-DD HH:mm, YYYY-MM-DD HH:mm:ss, YYYY/MM/DD HH:mm:ss, YYYY/MM/DD HH:mm, M/D/YYYY H:mm:ss, or M/D/YYYY H:mm. Always use 24-hour time. Leave this column empty to save the post as a draft. Schedule posts for at least 10 minutes after you upload the CSV to ensure proper processing.
Content
Column header: content
Enter the text for your post caption, including any hashtags. Keep within the character limits of the target social platform.
Preview Link
Column header: link (OGmetaUrl)
Paste a URL to generate a link preview for your post. Note that if you add images, GIFs, or videos, they will override the preview link, and the URL will instead be appended to your caption.
Image URLs
Column header: imageUrls
Add one or more image URLs, separated by commas, to include images in your post. Use supported formats like PNG or JPEG, and note that a maximum of 10 images per post is allowed.
GIF URL
Column header: gifUrl
Paste a GIF URL to add an animated GIF to your post. Do not fill other media columns (like link, imageUrls, or videoUrls) if you use this column.
Video URLs
Column header: videoUrls
Add one or more video URLs, separated by commas, to include videos in your post. Up to 10 videos are supported per post. Do not use other media columns if you add videos here.
Thumbnail URL
Column header: thumbnailUrl
Specify a custom thumbnail URL for the first video in your post. This feature is not supported for multiple videos and may behave differently across platforms.
Advanced CSV-Only Columns
Media Optimization
Column header: mediaOptimization (true/false)
Set to true to automatically resolve format or dimension errors, such as converting an MP4 to MOV for Instagram Stories.
Watermark
Column header: applyWatermark (true/false)
Set to true to add a watermark to your media assets.
Tags
Column header: tags (comma-separated)
Add multiple tags, separated by commas, to organize your posts. New tags will be created automatically in your filters.
Category
Column header: Category
Assign a category to your posts for better organization. New categories will be added to your filters if they don’t already exist.
Follow-Up Comment
Column header: followUpComment
Add a comment that will be posted immediately after your main post to boost engagement. Supported for Facebook Pages, Instagram Business accounts, LinkedIn Profiles and Pages, YouTube Videos and Shorts, and your CRM's Communities.
