Creating Contacts from Partially Completed Surveys
Capturing Contact Information During Survey Progress
Your CRM's survey feature allows you to automatically create and store contact records as respondents provide information, even if they don't complete the entire survey. This ensures you capture valuable lead data from partial submissions, maximizing your data collection efforts.
How Partial Contact Creation Works
When enabled, the system will generate a contact record as soon as a respondent provides contact information and progresses beyond the first slide. This means you can capture leads who start your survey but don't reach the final submission step.
The feature works alongside slide logic, allowing contact creation to occur even when respondents skip slides based on their answers. However, there are specific limitations to be aware of when using complex survey logic.
Setting Up Partial Contact Creation
Follow these steps to enable this feature:
- Navigate to Sites > Survey > Builder > Add Survey
- In the Survey Builder, open the Options menu
- Toggle on Create Contact on Partial Submission
- Place contact information fields (such as name, email, or phone) on the first slide of your survey
Once configured, when a respondent fills out the contact fields on the first slide and clicks Next, a contact record will be created immediately, before they complete the remaining survey questions.
Important Limitations
While partial contact creation is powerful, there are specific scenarios where it may not function as expected:
- Skip to Final Slide: If your survey logic skips respondents directly to the last slide, partial contact creation will not occur. The system treats the final slide as a complete submission, bypassing the partial submission functionality.
- Skip to Second-to-Last Slide: When respondents skip to the slide immediately before the final slide, their contact information will not be updated during this step. Contact data is only finalized and saved during the final submission process.
For optimal results, position basic contact fields at the beginning of your survey and avoid logic that immediately skips to the final or second-to-last slides.
