Resolving a WhatsApp Number Stuck in "Pending" Status
If your WhatsApp Business number remains in a "Pending" status for a week or more after attempting to connect it to the CRM, it is typically because the phone number is still actively registered with another WhatsApp service.
Why This Happens
WhatsApp only allows a phone number to be actively connected to one platform at a time. This platform could be the personal WhatsApp app, the WhatsApp Business app on a phone, or another business messaging service. If the number is still in use elsewhere, the registration request from the CRM cannot complete and will remain in a pending state.
How to Fix It
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
- Identify all active registrations: Check every device and service where the phone number might still be logged into WhatsApp. This includes personal smartphones, the WhatsApp Business app, and any other third-party business platforms.
- Disconnect the number: Fully log out or deregister the phone number from any other WhatsApp service. The number must be completely free from any other active connection.
- Retry the connection: Once you have confirmed the number is no longer in use elsewhere, return to your CRM settings and attempt to connect the WhatsApp number again.
Important Considerations
WhatsApp limits registration attempts to prevent abuse. You can only try to register a number a limited number of times within a 72-hour period. Repeatedly trying to connect the number while it is still registered elsewhere may use up these attempts and cause further delays. It is crucial to ensure the number is fully disconnected from all other services before retrying in the CRM.
After the number is successfully released, a new registration request from the CRM should process normally and change the status from "Pending" to "Connected."
