Filtering Contacts by Terms & Conditions Agreement in Workflows
Overview
You can now add a filter to your workflows that segments contacts based on whether they have agreed to your Terms and Conditions. This filter is available for workflows triggered by form, survey, or quiz submissions. It allows you to create distinct paths for compliant and non-compliant contacts, helping you manage legal requirements and target communications more precisely.
Adding the T&C Filter
To use this filter, you must first create or edit a workflow that is triggered by a Form Submitted, Survey Submitted, or Quiz Submitted event.
- Within your workflow builder, click Add Filters on the relevant trigger or action step.
- From the list of available filters, select the option for T&C Filter.
- You will be presented with two condition options: Users who have agreed to the T&C or Users who have not agreed to the T&C. Choose the one that fits your workflow logic.
- Apply the filter to finalize the condition on that step.
How the Filter Works
The filter checks the agreement status associated with the specific form, survey, or quiz that triggered the workflow. Contacts who have submitted that specific item and checked its terms agreement box are categorized as having agreed. All other contacts, including those who have never seen or submitted that item, are treated as not having agreed.
This filter can be combined with other workflow filters to create complex, multi-condition rules for contact segmentation.
Practical Applications
- Gated Content or Offers: Send a download link or promotional code only to contacts who have agreed to the relevant terms.
- Compliance Pathways: Route contacts who haven't agreed to updated terms into a separate workflow for re-engagement or education.
- Access Control: Use agreement status as a condition for unlocking certain features or services within an automated sequence.
Testing and Best Practices
After configuring your filter, save the workflow and test it thoroughly. Submit a test form both with and without agreeing to the terms to confirm the workflow branches correctly. Remember that this filter status is tied to the specific submission item; a contact's agreement status for one form does not automatically apply to a different form or survey.
