Using the New Signup Trigger for Courses and Memberships

Overview

The New Signup workflow trigger allows you to launch an automated sequence whenever a contact purchases or enrolls in a course, membership, or other service for the first time. This is ideal for creating automatic onboarding experiences, sending welcome communications, or rewarding new members.

Important Note: This trigger will not activate if the contact has already been given access to the membership or community group through a different method (like a manual assignment). It is designed specifically for new, first-time signups.

Trigger Description

This trigger starts a workflow when a new customer completes a signup for an offer, membership, or any service you provide. You can use it to automate actions like sending welcome emails, granting access to materials, or adding tags to the contact's profile.

How to Configure

When adding this trigger to your workflow, you will need to configure the following settings:

  • Workflow Trigger Name: A descriptive name for this specific trigger instance. This field is required.
  • Offer: (Optional) You can specify a particular offer, discount, or membership package. If you leave this blank, the workflow will trigger for any new signup. If you specify an offer, the workflow will only run for signups using that exact offer.

Example Use Case

Imagine you want to send a special welcome sequence only to customers who sign up using a "15% Early Bird Discount" offer for a membership course.

Trigger Configuration

  • Workflow Trigger Name: Course Early Bird Welcome
  • Offer: 15% Early Bird Discount

With this setup, the workflow will only run when a new contact signs up using that specific discount offer.

Sample Workflow Actions

Once triggered, your workflow could perform actions such as:

  1. Send a Welcome Email: Immediately deliver a personalized email congratulating the member on their early bird enrollment and providing initial course access instructions.
  2. Apply a Tag: Add a tag like "Early Bird Member" to the contact's profile. This allows you to easily identify and segment this group for future communications or promotions.

This targeted approach ensures your automation is relevant and timely, enhancing the new member's experience from the moment they join.
