Using the Update Affiliate Workflow Action

Overview

The Update Affiliate action allows you to programmatically change the status of an affiliate contact within your CRM. You can use this action in a workflow to automatically mark an affiliate as active or inactive based on specific triggers, such as form submissions or other contact activities.

Configuring the Update Affiliate Action

Step 1: Add the Action to Your Workflow

Within your workflow builder, locate and select the Update Affiliate action from the list of available actions.

Step 2: Name the Action

Provide a clear, descriptive name for this step, such as "Deactivate Affiliate" or "Reactivate Affiliate." This helps with workflow organization and troubleshooting.

Step 3: Set the Affiliate Status

You will be presented with a status selector. Choose either Active or Inactive to define the new state for the affiliate when this workflow step runs.

Example Use Case: Automatically Deactivating an Affiliate

Scenario: You have an "Affiliate Exit" form for affiliates who wish to leave your program. You want to automatically deactivate any affiliate who submits this form.

Workflow Setup

  • Trigger: Form Submission, configured for your specific "Affiliate Exit Form."
  • Action: Add an Update Affiliate action.
  • Configuration: Name the action (e.g., "Set Affiliate to Inactive") and select Inactive as the new status.

Outcome

When a contact who is an affiliate submits the exit form, the workflow triggers. The Update Affiliate action runs, changing their affiliate status to inactive. This immediately halts their ability to generate new commissions or sales through your affiliate system.
