How to Configure the Add Leads Under an Affiliate Action
Access the Workflow Builder
To begin, navigate to the Automation section in the left-hand menu and select Workflows. Click the Create Workflow button in the upper-right corner. You can then choose to start from a template, a recipe, or build a workflow from scratch.
Add a Workflow Trigger
Before you can add the affiliate action, your workflow must have a trigger. The trigger determines when a contact enters the workflow and the action is executed. Common triggers include Form Submitted or Tag Added.
Add the Action to Your Workflow
Once your trigger is set, click the + Add button in the workflow builder and select Add Action. From the list of available actions, locate the Add Leads Under an Affiliate action, which is found within the Affiliate section.
Choose an Assignment Method
After adding the action, you must select a mapping method under the Choose Action Mapping setting. There are three primary methods available.
Manual Assignment
Use this method to assign all leads from this workflow to a predetermined affiliate.
- Select Manual.
- Choose a specific Campaign from the dropdown list.
- Select the desired Affiliate from the list that appears, which shows affiliates linked to the chosen campaign.
- Save the configuration.
Auto-Track via Attribution
This method automatically credits the affiliate based on a tracking link parameter (am_id).
- Select Auto-Track Affiliate via Attribution.
- Choose an Attribution Source: First Attribution (credits the first referring affiliate) or Latest Attribution (credits the most recent interaction).
- Save the configuration.
Custom Mapping
This advanced method uses data from custom fields or workflow variables to dynamically assign the affiliate.
- Select Custom Mapping.
- Enter the source of the affiliate ID, such as a custom field (e.g.,
{{contact.custom_field.am_id}}) or a workflow variable (e.g.,{{workflow.am_id}}). - Save the configuration.
Test and Publish Your Workflow
Before making the workflow active, use the Test Workflow feature to simulate a contact entering the workflow. Check the execution logs to confirm that the lead is correctly assigned to the intended affiliate. Once you are satisfied with the test results, you can publish the workflow to activate the automation.
