Creating and Managing Service Add-ons
What Are Service Add-ons?
Add-ons are optional extras that customers can select to customize their appointment or service booking. They allow you to offer supplementary items, upgrades, or related products alongside your core services. For example, a massage therapist might offer a hot stone upgrade, or a consultant could add a detailed report as an extra purchase. When a customer books, they can choose these add-ons, which may adjust the total appointment duration and final price.
Key Benefits of Using Add-ons
- Increase Revenue: Easily present upsell opportunities directly at the point of booking.
- Personalize the Client Experience: Let customers tailor their service to their exact needs.
- Transparent Pricing: The total cost, including any selected add-ons, is calculated and shown clearly during checkout.
- Efficient Management: Create an add-on once and assign it to multiple relevant services.
How to Create a New Add-on
You can create add-ons from a central location to use across multiple services.
Step 1: Navigate to the Add-ons Section
Go to your CRM's main navigation and select Calendar. Then, click Calendar Settings and choose Services. In the Services panel, click the Add-ons tab at the top of the page.
Step 2: Start Creating
Click the blue + New Add-on button in the upper-right corner.
Step 3: Configure Add-on Details
Fill out the form with the following information:
- Name: Give your add-on a clear, descriptive title.
- Price: Set the cost for this add-on.
- Duration: Check the box if selecting this add-on should add extra time to the total appointment. If enabled, specify the additional duration.
- Maximum Quantity: Define the maximum number of this add-on a customer can select per booking.
- Multiple Price with Quantity: Enable this if the price should be multiplied by the quantity selected (e.g., $10 each).
- Description: Provide details to help customers understand the value of the add-on.
- Hide from Booking Page: Enable this to make the add-on visible only to your staff for internal use; customers will not see it when booking online.
Click the Create Add-on button to save it.
Assigning Add-ons to a Service
Creating an add-on does not automatically make it appear on your booking pages. You must link it to the specific services where you want it offered.
Step 1: Open the Service Editor
In the Services panel, find the service you want to modify. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) next to it and select Edit.
Step 2: Go to the Add-ons Tab
In the service editor, look for the Add-ons tab on the left-side navigation menu and click it.
Step 3: Link Your Add-ons
Click the + Add-ons button. A list will appear showing all add-ons you've created. Select the checkboxes for the add-ons you want to assign to this service. You can also create a new add-on directly from here. Click Save to apply your changes.
Editing or Deleting an Add-on
To Edit:
Navigate to the main Add-ons tab under Calendar > Calendar Settings > Services. You will see a list of all existing add-ons. Click the pencil (Edit) icon next to the add-on you wish to modify. Update any details in the form that appears and click Save Changes.
To Delete:
From the same list on the Add-ons tab, click the trash can (Delete) icon next to the add-on you want to remove. Confirm the deletion. Please note: deleting an add-on will remove it from all services it was assigned to.
Best Practices
- Use descriptive names and, if possible, add an image to make add-ons appealing and easy to understand.
- Set a Maximum Quantity for add-ons that are limited by physical inventory or practicality.
- Consider creating service bundles that include popular add-ons to encourage higher-value bookings.
- Use the Hide from Booking Page option for add-ons meant for internal staff use, like adjustment fees or special notes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do add-ons automatically appear for all my services?
No. Add-ons must be manually assigned to each specific service where you want them to be available to customers.
How does an add-on affect the total appointment time?
If you have enabled the Duration option for an add-on and specified a time, that duration will be added to the base service time. The CRM will calculate and display the new total length for the appointment.
