Audiences Tab Overview - Ad Manager Settings

The Audiences tab in your CRM's Ad Manager is where you manage all your custom and lookalike audiences. This article explains how to find your existing audiences and the actions you can perform, such as creating new audiences, editing their details, or removing them.

Where to Find the List of Audiences

To access your audiences, first navigate to the Ad Manager home page. Click on the settings icon to open the Ad Manager settings. Within the settings, you will find several tabs, including one labeled Audiences. Clicking on this tab displays a list of all audiences. This list includes audiences you have created directly within the Ad Manager, as well as audiences that were created on the Meta platform and imported from your connected ad account.

How to Create a New Audience

There are two primary methods for creating new audiences (both custom and lookalike):

  • During Campaign Creation: You can create audiences as part of the campaign setup process. The specific steps for creating lookalike and custom audiences during this flow are detailed in their respective help articles.
  • From the Audiences Tab: Within the Ad Manager settings, under the Audiences tab, click the Create new audience button. This will present you with two options: Lookalike and Custom Audience. Selecting one of these options will start the creation process. Once created, the new audience will appear in the audiences list below.

Actions You Can Perform on Existing Audiences

The Audiences tab provides several tools for managing your existing audiences.

  • Search and Filter: Use the search for audience box to find a specific audience by name. Next to the search box, a dropdown menu allows you to filter the list. You can choose to show All audiences, only Custom audiences, or only Lookalike audiences.
  • Edit an Audience: To change the name or description of an existing audience, click the ellipses () next to the audience's name in the list and select Edit. A dialog box will open where you can make your changes.

How to Delete an Audience

You can delete an audience by clicking the ellipses () next to its name and selecting Delete. This will remove the audience from all draft and paused campaigns.

Please note the following important restrictions:

  • If an audience is associated with an active campaign, a validation message will appear, and you will not be able to delete it. You must first pause all active campaigns that use that audience.
  • If you try to delete a custom audience that has been used to create a lookalike audience, an error message will be shown. You must delete the dependent lookalike audience first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a limit to the number of audiences I can create?
There is no specific limit mentioned, but it is good practice to keep your audience list organized. Having too many audiences can make campaign management more complex.

How often can I update the criteria for my audiences?
You can update audience criteria as often as needed. Be aware that frequent changes can impact the performance of your ad targeting.

What happens to an audience if I delete it?
Deleting an audience is permanent and cannot be undone. Any campaigns that rely on that audience will be affected, so proceed with caution.

Can I use multiple audiences in a single ad campaign?
Yes, you can target multiple audiences within a single campaign. This allows for more refined targeting strategies, but you should monitor performance to optimize your results.
