Configure Google Ads Additional Assets at the Campaign Level
What Are Campaign-Level Google Ads Additional Assets?
Campaign-level additional assets are enhancements you can add to your Google Ads campaigns directly within the CRM. These include elements like business logos, image assets, call extensions, and sitelinks. By configuring them at the campaign level, you ensure they are applied to all ad groups and ads within that campaign, which helps maintain brand consistency and can improve ad performance without needing to set up the same assets repeatedly for each ad group. These rich media assets can appear across Google Search, Display, and YouTube placements.
Supported Asset Types and Limits
You can add the following types of assets at the campaign level:
- Business Logo: A single square (1:1 aspect ratio) image in JPG or PNG format.
- Image Assets: Up to 20 images per campaign. Supported formats are JPG and PNG, with aspect ratios of 1:1 (square) and 1.91:1 (landscape). The maximum file size for each image is 5 MB.
- Call Extensions: Multiple phone numbers that have been approved by Google.
- Sitelinks: Between 2 and 20 text links (4 is recommended), which can include optional descriptions and a final URL.
Key Benefits
- Consistency: All ads in the campaign share the same branding elements and calls-to-action.
- Relevance: Assets can be tailored to the specific offer or funnel stage of the campaign.
- Efficiency: Set up assets once for the entire campaign instead of for each individual ad group.
- Control: Override account-level default assets to test different variations per campaign.
- Visibility: Enhanced assets can lead to greater ad prominence and higher click-through rates.
How to Configure Campaign-Level Additional Assets
Step 1: Add Image Assets
In the campaign builder, locate the Additional Assets section and click Upload Images. You can select images from your media library or upload new files. You can add up to 20 images. Ensure they are JPG or PNG files, have a 1:1 or 1.91:1 aspect ratio, and are under 5 MB each. It is recommended to add 2-3 images per aspect ratio for better coverage. Avoid using low-quality images, GIFs, overlays, or misleading content. If an image has an unsupported aspect ratio, you will be prompted to crop or resize it. If some images fail to upload, the campaign will still publish with the valid assets and text ads.
Step 2: Add a Business Logo
Click + Upload Logo. Choose an existing square (1:1) image from your media library or upload a new one. After uploading, you can click on the logo to access editing options like cropping. Only one square logo can be added per campaign.
Step 3: Configure Call Extensions
Click on the Call Extensions dropdown. Select one or more phone numbers that have already been added to your account. To add a new number, click + Create a New Call from the dropdown, then select the country, enter a valid phone number, and click Create. Call extensions must be approved by Google.
Step 4: Configure Sitelinks
Click the Sitelinks dropdown. Select existing sitelinks or click + Create a new sitelink to add a new one. For a new sitelink, provide the following information:
- Sitelink Text: Up to 25 characters.
- Description Line 1 & 2: Optional.
- Final URL: The destination link.
Click Create when finished. It is recommended to add at least 4 sitelinks.
Fallback Logic
If you do not configure any assets at the campaign level, the system will use assets configured at the account level, if they are available. If no assets are available at either level, your ads will run without these enhancements.
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if I upload a logo that isn't square?
Only square (1:1 aspect ratio) images are eligible for use as a business logo. If you upload a non-square image, it will not be used. You can use the built-in cropping tool to adjust the image to the correct ratio.
Can I add multiple phone numbers for call extensions?
Yes, you can assign multiple Google-approved phone numbers. Google may rotate which number is displayed based on factors like the user's location and device.
Why might a call extension be marked as "Disapproved"?
Call extensions must comply with Google Ads policies. A number can be disapproved for reasons such as being invalid, unverified, having a mismatched country code, or incorrect formatting.
How many sitelinks can I add?
You can add between 2 and 20 sitelinks. For optimal performance, adding 4 is recommended.
Can I edit an existing sitelink or phone number?
Yes. Look for the pencil or edit icon next to the existing entry to make changes.
