Create a New Facebook Ad Campaign in the CRM's Ad Manager

Introduction

Launch and manage your Facebook and Instagram ad campaigns directly from your CRM's Ad Manager. This guide will walk you through the process of creating a new Meta (Facebook) campaign, explaining the campaign structure and how to publish your ads.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you have completed the following setup steps:

  • A pricing model for the Ad Manager must be selected from the Agency view.
  • The Ad Manager feature must be toggled ON for the sub-account you are using. It is enabled by default.
  • Your Meta (Facebook) Ad Account and the relevant Facebook Pages must be connected to the Ad Manager. You can connect multiple Facebook Pages and one ad account.

Understanding the Campaign Structure

Meta campaigns are built on a three-level hierarchy:

  1. Campaign: The top level, which defines your overall advertising objective.
  2. Ad Set: The middle level, where you define your audience, budget, and ad placement.
  3. Ad: The individual creative (image, video, text) that people will see.

When you create a new campaign, the Ad Manager will automatically create one ad set and one ad to get you started. You can have up to 10 ad sets per campaign and up to 10 ads per ad set.

How to Create a Meta Campaign

Step 1: Initiate Campaign Creation

Navigate to Marketing > Ad Manager. On the Ad Manager home screen, click the + Create Campaign button. Select Facebook as the platform and click Next. You will then choose to either Start from Scratch or use a pre-built template.

Step 2: Define Campaign Objective and Special Ad Category

Objective: Select the primary goal for your campaign, such as Lead Generation.

Special Ad Category: If your ad content falls under a special category (e.g., credit, employment, or housing), you must select the appropriate category from the list to comply with advertising policies. If it does not, select NOT APPLICABLE. Note that selecting a Special Ad Category applies restrictions to your targeting options, such as disallowing the use of Lookalike audiences and limiting detailed demographic targeting.

Step 3: Configure the Ad Set

This step involves defining the details for your first ad set.

  • Name: Give your ad set a descriptive name.
  • Facebook Page: Select the Facebook Page that will represent your business in the ads.
  • Instagram Account: Choose an Instagram account for your ad. If none is selected or connected, the ad will use information from your chosen Facebook Page.
  • Placement: Choose where your ads will appear. You can select Automatic Placements to let the system optimize for you, or enable the toggle for Manual Placements to select specific locations yourself.
  • Budget: Set your budget by choosing either a Daily or Lifetime amount. The currency displayed is determined by your connected Meta Ad Account. For a lifetime budget, you can set specific start and end dates and times.

Step 4: Create the Ad and Publish

After configuring the ad set, you will proceed to create the individual ad creative. Once you have added your images, videos, and text, review all your settings carefully. Finally, click to publish your campaign. It will be sent to your connected Meta ad account for review and publication according to Meta's policies.
