How to Synchronize a Countdown Timer Between Emails and Funnels

Creating a Unified Countdown Experience

For a time-sensitive promotion to be credible and effective, the countdown timer displayed to your contacts must be consistent across all touchpoints. This means the timer showing in your email campaign and the timer on the landing page or funnel should show the exact same remaining time. This synchronization prevents confusion and builds trust, ensuring a seamless user experience from the initial email click-through to the final action on your page.

Common Use Cases for a Synced Timer

Here are a few scenarios where keeping your timers in sync is crucial:

  • Limited-Time Sales: A discount offer has a countdown timer on both the promotional email and the sales page. When a customer clicks from the email, the timer on the webpage reflects the same amount of time remaining.
  • Product Launches: A timer counts down to the release of a new product on a landing page. The email announcement uses the same timer, and when it reaches zero, the page can automatically redirect visitors to the purchase page.
  • Event Registrations: An early-bird ticket offer uses a synchronized timer. Once the timer expires, the registration page can update to show standard pricing.
  • Webinar Sign-ups: A timer for registration closure appears in the invitation email and on the sign-up page. After expiration, the page can redirect to a waiting list or an information page.

Steps to Sync Your Timer

Follow this process to create and deploy a single countdown timer across your email and funnel.

First, plan the destination pages for your timer. You will need to specify an active link (the page users see while the offer is valid) and an expired link (the page users are directed to after the timer ends). Configure these pages within your funnel builder.

2. Create the Countdown Timer

Navigate to Marketing > Countdown Timer in your CRM. Create a new timer and input the active and expired redirect links you configured in the previous step.

3. Add the Timer to an Email

Create or edit an email campaign. Insert a countdown timer element into the email body and select the timer you just created from the list. Use the styling options to adjust its appearance to match your email's design.

4. Add an Action Button to the Email

Include a clear call-to-action button in your email. Link this button directly to the active page URL associated with your timer. You can find this link in the timer's settings.

5. Add the Timer to a Funnel Page

Open the active offer page within your funnel editor. Insert the same countdown timer element onto this page, ensuring you select the identical timer used in the email.

6. Align the Styling

Finally, adjust the position and visual style of the timer on the funnel page so it closely matches the appearance of the timer in your email, creating a cohesive look and feel.
