How to Customize the Contact Detail Page

What is Contact Detail Page Customization?

Customizing the Contact Detail Page allows administrators to modify how contact records are displayed within your CRM. This feature enables you to organize panels, select which modules appear, control field visibility, and assign tailored views to specific users. Custom views help create role-based experiences for teams like Sales, Support, or Admin.

Note: Only administrators can create and manage views.

Benefits of Customizing the Contact Detail Page

  • Role-based views: Design different layouts for different user roles.
  • Improved organization: Arrange modules, folders, and fields based on workflow priorities.
  • Reduced clutter: Hide unnecessary fields and modules to simplify the interface.
  • Enhanced efficiency: Place frequently used tools in the center panel or Dynamic Tab.
  • Greater control: Restrict delete access and assign appropriate views to users.

Views and Access Management

Views allow you to create customized layouts for different users while maintaining centralized administration. Administrators can decide which users see each layout and set a default view for the account. You can create up to five views per account.

Important: Only administrators can create and manage views. The default view is preset and cannot be changed. Views are assigned to users through the Manage Users section.

Contact Detail Page Layout Structure

The Contact Detail Page is divided into distinct sections to help organize information based on user workflows. Understanding each area assists in building layouts that are easy to navigate and maintain. Panels can be resized, allowing users to adjust the page according to their needs.

Each view includes four main sections:

  • Contact Card: The top section displaying key contact details.
  • Left Panel: Used for custom fields, standard fields, and folders.
  • Center Panel: The primary workspace for major modules.
  • Right Panel: Used for additional modules.

Note: The Conversations module is fixed and always appears in the center panel.

How to Customize the Contact Detail Page

Follow these steps to create and assign a customized view:

Step 1: Navigate to the Customize Contact Detail View Tab

  1. Click on the Contacts tab.
  2. Go to Smart Lists.
  3. Click on the three dots.
  4. Click on Settings.
  5. Click on the Customize Contact detail view tab.

Step 2: Create and Manage Views

  1. Click the + Add View button.
  2. Add a view name based on the user or workflow it will support.
  3. Assign user(s) to the view. A user can only be in one view; if removed, they return to the default view.
  4. Click Create.

Once a view is created, click the three dots in the top right of the view to rename, manage users, duplicate, or delete the view. Use the Manage Users option to assign the view to appropriate users and review user assignments globally.

Step 3: Customize the Details Page

Use the layout editor to organize the Contact Detail Page.

Customize the Contact Card

The Contact Card displays important contact information at the top of the record. You can add and arrange items like phone number, email address, contact address, owner, followers, tags, and up to two custom fields.

Details:

  • Owner and followers can be managed separately—show only owner, only followers, both, or neither.
  • Custom fields on the Contact Card are read-only; edit them using the All fields tab.
  • Tags can be placed in the left or center panel.
  • Only the primary phone number and email address can be displayed.
  • You can reorder items, hide unneeded fields, and disable the Delete button to prevent accidental deletion.

Customize the Left Panel

The left panel organizes field data for quick review and updates. You can rearrange custom folders and fields, rename folders for clarity, hide irrelevant fields, and re-add removed fields using the Add button. Review how many fields are currently visible.

Use the Dynamic Tab Feature

The Dynamic Tab surfaces one high-priority module in a dedicated tab for faster access. It appears between All fields and Actions. When a module is placed here, it is removed from its previous location and opens expanded by default. This is useful for items like Opportunities or Client Portal. You can also rename and reorder tabs to match user workflows.

Customize the Center Panel

Drag and drop modules from the actions tab or right panel to customize your layout. The Conversations module remains fixed in the center panel.
