Choosing a Listings Management Engine for Your Agency
Choosing Your Listings Management Engine
Your CRM platform offers a powerful local listings product for your clients. To power this service, you must select a backend listings management engine. This choice is made once at your agency level and determines the system that will handle all new business location listings you create.
Available Engines
You have two primary engine options, each with its own strengths. The first engine is known for its extensive global publisher network and strong automation for detecting and suppressing duplicate listings across directories. The second engine is also a robust platform with a long-standing reputation in the industry.
The key differences often involve the level of automation for data management and the specific risk of entity publishing conflicts. The first engine typically presents a lower conflict risk with more automated duplicate handling, while the second may require more manual oversight for these tasks. Both provide wide geographic coverage and support for businesses of various sizes.
Pricing and Selection Impact
Importantly, the pricing for the Listings product is the same regardless of which engine you choose. You pay for the listing subscriptions, not for the engine itself. This allows you to select the platform that best fits your operational needs without cost being a factor.
Your selection applies to your entire agency and all sub-accounts beneath it. You cannot run one engine for some sub-accounts and the other for different ones within the same agency. All new business entities created after your selection will use the chosen engine.
How to Select Your Engine
You can make or change your engine selection from your agency dashboard.
- Log into your agency account in the CRM.
- From the left navigation menu, click on the Reselling tab.
- On the Reselling page, find the card for the Listings product.
- Click the Change Engine button on that card. This will open a selection modal.
- In the modal, you will see a comparison of the two available engines. Review their features and select your preferred option.
- After selecting an engine, you must check a confirmation box that states you understand this will be the default for all new entities your subaccounts create.
- Once confirmed, the Listings card on the Reselling page will update to show which engine it is now powered by.
Important Considerations for Existing Clients
Your engine choice only affects new listings subscriptions created after the selection. Any business locations that are already subscribed to the Listings product will continue to operate on whichever engine was active when they were set up. They are not automatically migrated.
If you wish to move an existing client's listings to the new engine, you would need to unsubscribe their business entity from Listings and then re-subscribe it after your agency's engine selection has been changed. Be aware this process can cause temporary delays in data synchronization across publishing platforms.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use both engines at the same time?
No. You must select one primary engine for your entire agency. All new listings will use that engine. You cannot run listings through both engines in parallel for different sub-accounts.
Will my clients see the engine's branding?
No. The Listings product is fully white-labeled for your sub-accounts. Your clients will see your agency's branding and will not be aware of the underlying engine powering the service.
What happens if I change the engine later?
You can request to change your agency's engine at a later time through the same Change Engine modal. When you switch, all new entity subscriptions will use the newly selected engine. All existing, already-subscribed entities will remain on the previous engine unless you manually unsubscribe and re-subscribe them, as described above.
