Understanding Rolling Notifications for Snapshot Pushes
What Are Rolling Notifications?
Rolling notifications are a system feature that organizes the in-app alerts you receive when pushing a snapshot to multiple sub-accounts. Instead of sending a separate notification for each individual location, the system groups progress updates into a few key milestones. This keeps your notification center cleaner and makes it easier to track the overall progress of large deployments.
Note: This article describes the behavior of in-app notifications only. To manage email notifications for snapshot pushes, please configure your Snapshot Notification Preferences.
How Rolling Notifications Work
The behavior of rolling notifications depends on how many sub-accounts you are pushing a snapshot to.
Pushes to Fewer Than 10 Sub-Accounts
If you push a snapshot to 9 or fewer locations, you will receive a traditional, individual notification for each sub-account as it is processed. This provides detailed, per-location feedback for smaller-scale updates.
Pushes to 10 or More Sub-Accounts
When you initiate a snapshot push to 10 or more sub-accounts, the smart notification grouping feature activates. You will receive only four consolidated progress notifications at the following milestones:
- 10% of locations processed
- 30% of locations processed
- 70% of locations processed
- 100% of locations processed
This grouped approach significantly reduces notification overload while still giving you clear visibility into the deployment's advancement.
Handling Failed Snapshots
Even when using rolling notifications for a large push, the system ensures critical errors are not missed. If a snapshot fails to push to a specific sub-account, you will receive an individual notification for that failure. This allows for immediate attention and troubleshooting without having to sift through the grouped progress alerts.
Accessing Detailed Information
Every notification—whether a grouped progress update or an individual failure alert—includes a View Details link. Clicking this link takes you directly to the Snapshot Push History page, pre-filtered to show the details of that specific deployment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I disable rolling notifications?
No. Rolling notifications are a system-level enhancement designed to improve the user experience and cannot be turned off or configured.
Will I still know exactly which sub-accounts succeeded or failed?
Yes. While the progress is reported in groups, you can click the View Details link in any notification to see the complete push history, which lists the status for every sub-account. Individual failures also generate their own separate alerts.
Do rolling notifications apply to email alerts?
No. Rolling notifications only apply to the in-app notification center within your CRM. Email notification settings are managed separately.
