Connecting Messaging and Social Channels to Google Business Profile
You can enhance your Google Business Profile (GBP) by linking it with popular messaging channels like WhatsApp and SMS/Text, as well as social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, X (formerly Twitter), and Pinterest. This integration provides customers with more familiar ways to contact you and creates additional opportunities for engagement and lead capture.
Important: The Conversations module in your CRM only supports messaging for channels that have been integrated through the CRM platform.
How to Connect Social Channels with GBP
Follow these steps to link your messaging and social channels to a Google Business Profile.
Step 1: Access Integrations
From your sub-account dashboard, navigate to Settings and select Integrations.
Step 2: Connect Your GBP Account
Connect your Google Business Profile account and proceed to the page selection screen. In the page selection modal, you can use the search dropdown to filter your GBP locations by Page Name, Store Code, Postal Code, or Locality.
Tip: If no locations appear, ensure you are connected with a Google account that has access to the correct GBP locations.
Step 3: Choose Channels to Connect
Click on the WhatsApp & Message tabs to connect messaging channels, or click on Connect Channels to add social media links.
Step 4: Add Your Channel Details
For messaging channels, you can select a phone number already linked to your CRM from the dropdown menu, or type a new number directly. For social channels, you can add the URL for each platform.
Step 5: Finalize the Connection
Click the Connect button to save your settings and link the channels to your GBP.
Supported URL Formats for Social Channels
When adding social media links to your Google Business Profile, please use the correct URL format for each platform to ensure proper display.
- Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/{username}
- Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/{username}
- LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/{username} or https://www.linkedin.com/company/{username}
- Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/{username}
- TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/{username}
- X (Twitter): https://www.twitter.com/{username}
- YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/{username}, https://www.youtube.com/user/{username}, or https://www.youtube.com/@{username}
How These Channels Are Displayed
Only one messaging channel (either WhatsApp or Text Message) will be displayed on the main GBP search results at a time, even if both are connected. If both are added, the Text Message option will be shown. All connected social channels will appear in the About section of your GBP page.
Text/WhatsApp Message Option Not Visible on GBP Results
If you have added both Text and WhatsApp channels but they are not appearing on your GBP, this is typically due to Google's validation process for the phone numbers. Follow these steps to troubleshoot:
- Access your GBP page setup by clicking 'Update GBP' in the page selection module within your CRM, or by editing the page directly in your Google Business Profile console.
- Check if your edits have been approved by Google. Approval is managed entirely by Google's team and is outside the control of the CRM. If your edits have not been approved, you may need to contact Google support directly.
