How to Find Your Google Maps URL for Virtual Business Prospecting
Why Your Virtual Business Needs a Google Maps URL
Even businesses without a physical storefront can benefit from having a Google Business Profile. When you use the prospecting tools in your CRM, providing your business's specific Google Maps URL helps generate more accurate and relevant search results for your service area.
Step 1: Verify Your Business is Listed on Google
First, ensure your business has an active Google Business Profile. Visit the Google Business website and sign in with your Google account. If you haven't created a profile yet, add your business information and complete the verification process. For service-area businesses, select the appropriate options during setup.
Step 2: Locate Your Business on Google Maps
Navigate to Google Maps in your web browser. In the search bar, type your exact business name. When your business appears in the search results, click on its listing to open the detailed view.
Step 3: Copy Your Business Maps URL
Once your business listing is open, you can obtain the URL in two ways:
Method A: Copy from the Browser Address Bar
Look at the address bar at the top of your browser window. The URL will contain your business name and location coordinates. Select and copy this entire URL.
Method B: Use the Share Feature
Within your business listing on Google Maps, click the "Share" button. A window will appear with a "Copy link" option. Click this to copy your Business Maps URL to your clipboard.
Step 4: Use the URL in Your CRM Prospecting Tool
Within your CRM, navigate to the prospecting tool section. Look for the option to search for virtual businesses or service-area businesses. In the search form, find the field labeled "Business Maps URL" or similar. Paste the URL you copied from Google Maps into this field.
Step 5: Generate More Accurate Prospecting Results
Complete the rest of the prospecting form with your search criteria and submit it. The tool will now use your specific Google Maps URL to generate results that are more precisely aligned with your business's service area and virtual presence.
Using the correct Google Maps URL ensures that your prospecting reports reflect the actual geographic areas where your virtual business operates, leading to better quality leads and more effective outreach campaigns.
