Managing Notifications in the Client Portal
About Client Portal Notifications
The Client Portal gathers alerts from the portal itself and its connected applications, such as courses and communities, into one central notifications tab. This provides a single, convenient location for users to view and manage all their alerts.
Note: All notifications sent through the Client Portal are subject to usage charges.
Accessing Your Notifications
To view your notifications, locate and click the bell icon within the CRM application. This will display a list of all your recent alerts. Click on any notification to see more details or to take a related action.
When a notification links to a community post, it may open in a dedicated full-page view on the web for an improved reading experience.
Types of Notifications You Receive
The Notifications Tab will contain alerts for various activities. Common notification types include:
- Being tagged in a community comment or post.
- Someone using @everyone in a community comment or post.
- Requests to join a community (visible to both the requesting user and community admins).
- Community membership approval or decline notices.
- New courses added to the learning section.
- New likes on your posts or comments.
- New comments or replies on your content.
For most in-app notifications, a corresponding email notification may also be sent, depending on your preferences.
Managing Your Notification Preferences
You have control over how you receive alerts. Notifications can be delivered via email or as push notifications to the mobile app. You can customize these preferences for specific event types to ensure you stay informed without being overwhelmed.
User-Controlled Settings
Individual users can independently enable or disable email and push notifications for events such as:
- Community updates
- Course certificate awards
- Likes on your posts
- Likes on your comments
Portal Owner Controls
In some cases, the portal owner or administrator may configure default settings for the entire portal. For example, they can globally enable or disable email notifications for post likes or comment likes. When a setting is managed at this level, you will see a tooltip indicating that the preference is controlled by the administrator.
How to Adjust Your Notification Settings
Follow these steps to manage your personal notification preferences:
- Navigate to the Client Portal, Communities, or Courses area of the application.
- Click on your profile icon, typically located in the upper-right corner of the screen.
- Select Manage Your Account from the dropdown menu that appears.
- From the menu on the left, choose Notifications.
- On the Notifications page, you will see a list of event types. Use the toggle switches next to each one to turn email or push notifications on or off according to your preference.
