Monitoring Email Performance with Dashboard and Report Widgets
Understanding Email Widgets
Email widgets are visual tools that display key email performance data directly on your CRM dashboard or within custom reports. Instead of navigating through multiple menus to find campaign statistics, you can view delivery status, engagement, and other critical metrics at a glance. These widgets pull real-time data from all your email activities, including campaigns, workflows, and bulk sends.
Benefits of Using Email Widgets
These widgets offer several advantages for monitoring your email communications.
- Centralized Monitoring: Track email health metrics like deliveries, opens, clicks, and bounces without leaving your main dashboard.
- Granular Filtering: Isolate data for a specific campaign, workflow, or template to see its exact performance.
- Trend Analysis: Use the daily unsubscribe trend widget to identify potential list health issues early.
- Deliverability Insights: The domain grouping widget helps pinpoint if delivery problems are concentrated with specific email providers.
- Team Accountability: Filter any widget by the sender to review email activity by individual team members.
- Advanced Segmentation: Combine multiple filters using AND/OR logic across status, source, sender, and more to create precise data views.
Access and Requirements
To use email widgets, a user must have permission to view or edit dashboards and to create or schedule custom reports. No additional setup or integration is needed, as the email data is already available within your CRM.
Available Widget Types
There are 11 distinct email widgets, each focusing on a different metric. Most can be displayed as a single number, a donut chart, a bar chart, a line chart, a horizontal bar chart, or a table.
- Accepted Emails: Count of emails successfully accepted for sending.
- Delivered Emails: Count of emails that reached the recipient's inbox.
- Opened Emails: Count of emails opened by recipients.
- Clicked Emails: Count of emails where a link was clicked.
- Replied Emails: Count of emails that received a reply.
- Soft Bounced Emails: Count of emails that failed delivery temporarily.
- Hard Bounced Emails: Count of emails that failed delivery permanently.
- Failed Emails: Count of emails that failed to send.
- Unsubscribed Emails: Count of recipients who unsubscribed.
- Unsubscribed Emails Daily: A daily trend of unsubscribes. This widget supports grouping the data by various attributes like source or campaign.
- Emails By Domain: Email counts grouped by the recipient's domain (e.g., gmail.com). This widget also supports grouping the data by various attributes.
Where to Use Email Widgets
You can use the same set of email widgets in three different areas of the CRM, depending on your needs.
Dashboards
Ideal for real-time, always-on monitoring. Add widgets to a sub-account dashboard to create a live overview of your email performance alongside other communication metrics.
Custom Reports
Best for scheduled updates and client delivery. You can add email widgets to a report layout and schedule the report to be automatically sent via email on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.
Custom Metrics
For creating advanced key performance indicators (KPIs). Here, you can combine email data with information from other parts of the CRM to build a unique, composite metric.
How to Add an Email Widget to a Dashboard
- Navigate to the Dashboards section within your sub-account.
- Open the dashboard you wish to edit, or create a new one.
- Click the Edit Dashboard button.
- Click + Add Widget to open the widget panel.
- Scroll to the Emails section to see the list of available widgets.
- Click on the desired widget to add it to your dashboard canvas.
- Configure the widget using the Configure, Conditions, and Themes tabs.
- Click Save Changes to finalize.
Tip: To replicate a detailed campaign view, add Opened Emails, Clicked Emails, and Delivered Emails widgets side-by-side. Apply a filter to each, setting the source to Workflow and selecting the same specific workflow name. This creates a compact engagement summary for that campaign directly on your dashboard.
How to Add an Email Widget to a Custom Report
- Go to Reporting → Custom Reports.
- Open an existing report or click New Report.
- Choose to start from a blank canvas, use a template, or import a dashboard layout.
- Click Add Widget / Element in the top-left corner of the report builder.
Configuring Your Widget
After adding a widget, use its configuration tabs to tailor the data display.
Configure Tab
Here you set the basic display properties. For most widgets, you can choose the chart type (like donut or bar). For the Unsubscribed Emails Daily and Emails By Domain widgets, you can select a Group By option to categorize the data.
Conditions Tab
This is where you apply filters to show only specific data. You can filter by numerous criteria including Status, Source, Sent By, Domain, and specific campaign or workflow names. You can build complex filters by adding multiple conditions and choosing whether they must all be true (AND) or if any can be true (OR).
Themes Tab
This tab allows you to customize the visual style of the widget, such as its colors, to match your dashboard or report's design.
