Understanding User and Sub-Account Level Permissions

User Permissions and Sub-Account Permissions

In a white-label CRM setup, permissions operate on two distinct levels: User Level and Sub-Account Level. Understanding the relationship between these two is crucial for managing access effectively.

What are Sub-Account Level Permissions?

Sub-accounts created through the SaaS model inherit a foundational set of permissions. These permissions are defined by the specific plan selected during the signup process. The available plans and their associated features are configured in the Agency Account, within the SaaS Configurator section. Essentially, the Sub-Account Level permissions create a ceiling for what features are available to that entire account.

How User Level Permissions Relate

When a user is created within a sub-account, their individual permissions are derived from the sub-account's available features. A user's access cannot exceed the capabilities enabled at the sub-account level. For example, if the 'Workflows' feature is disabled for the sub-account, no user within that account can be granted permission to use it, regardless of their individual user settings.

Managing Sub-Account Level Permissions

As an agency administrator, you can modify the permissions for a specific sub-account. To do this:

  1. Navigate to your Agency Account view.
  2. Open the Sub-Accounts tab.
  3. Locate the desired sub-account using the search function.
  4. Click the three-dot menu next to the sub-account and select "Manage Client."
  5. Scroll down to the section labeled "Enable/Disable Products."
  6. Here, you can toggle features on or off for this sub-account.

Enabling a feature here makes it available for user-level permission assignment. After a feature is enabled at the sub-account level, an administrator of that sub-account can then go to their account's Settings, access Team Management, and edit individual user permissions to grant access to the newly available feature.
