Using Member Approval Questions

About Member Approval Questions

Member Approval Questions are a feature that allows group administrators to screen new membership requests. By setting up specific questions, you can gather information from potential members to help decide if they are a good fit for your community before approving their join request.

Enabling Member Approval Questions

To start using this feature, you must first enable it in your settings.

  1. Navigate to Settings > Member Questions.
  2. Toggle the Enable Member Questions switch to the on position.

Once enabled, any user requesting to join the group will be prompted to answer the questions you create.

Creating Approval Questions

You can create up to three custom questions for applicants to answer.

  1. From the Member Questions settings page, click Add Questions.
  2. For each question, you can select a question type: Text Box (for open-ended answers), Single Select (for choosing one option from a list), or Multi Select (for choosing multiple options from a list).
  3. If you create a Single Select or Multi Select question, ensure each option you provide is unique.

Reviewing and Managing Member Responses

As an administrator, you can review the answers provided by membership applicants and decide whether to approve or decline their request.

  1. Go to the People tab and apply the Requested filter. This will show you a list of all users who have requested to join the group.
  2. For each user, click the three dots menu next to their name.
  3. Select Membership Answers from the menu to view their responses to your approval questions.
  4. Based on their answers, choose either Approve or Decline to finalize their membership status.
