Using Quick Filters on Dashboards
About Quick Filters
Quick Filters allow you to temporarily filter the data displayed on a dashboard without needing to edit the dashboard itself. This is ideal for analyzing data from different perspectives on the fly. Your filter selections are saved for your user account and do not affect how other users see the dashboard.
Important: Quick Filters are only available for custom dashboard widgets. They do not work with the default, pre-built General Widgets.
Setting Up Quick Filters
To add Quick Filters to a dashboard, you must have full or edit access to it.
Step 1: Open the Dashboard
Navigate to the specific dashboard where you want to configure Quick Filters.
Step 2: Open the Quick Filters Menu
Click the Quick Filters button located at the top of the dashboard page.
Step 3: Add New Filters
Click the + Add Quick Filters button. A panel will open showing available filters, organized by the type of data they apply to (like Contacts or Appointments). You can browse these categories or use the search bar to find a specific filter.
Step 4: Choose Your Filters
Select the checkboxes next to the filters you wish to make available. Click the Add button to confirm your selection.
Step 5: Finalize the Setup
You will see a list of the filters you've chosen. You can optionally add a description to each filter to help other users understand its purpose. Click Apply to save the Quick Filters to this dashboard.
Note: Quick Filters are configured per dashboard. You must set them up separately for each dashboard where you want to use them.
Applying Quick Filters
Step 1: Go to a Dashboard with Quick Filters
Open a dashboard where Quick Filters have already been configured.
Step 2: Select and Apply a Filter
Use the Quick Filter controls at the top of the dashboard to choose a filter and set its value (for example, selecting a specific contact tag).
Step 3: View the Results
The widgets on the dashboard will refresh to show only the data that matches your selected filter criteria.
Note: A Quick Filter only affects widgets that use the same underlying data source. For instance, a filter based on a Contact property will only filter widgets that are built on Contact data.
Note: Your filter choices are saved for your current browser session. If you close and reopen your browser, the filters will reset.
How Quick Filters Interact with Widget Filters
If a widget has its own built-in filter, Quick Filters work in combination with it using AND logic. The system will show data that meets the criteria of both the widget filter and the active Quick Filter.
For example, if a widget is filtered to show only "Confirmed" appointments and you apply a Quick Filter for "Cancelled" appointments, the result would be an empty dataset because no single appointment can have both statuses.
Best Practice: Use widget-level filters for static, widget-specific conditions. Use Quick Filters for dynamic, user-specific analysis that applies across multiple widgets on the dashboard. Avoid setting the same filter condition at both levels to prevent conflicts.
