Guide to Click Tracking in Email Campaigns
What Is Click Tracking?
Click tracking is a feature in your CRM that provides insights into how recipients interact with links in your email campaigns. When enabled, it allows you to monitor engagement by tracking clicks on individual links within your emails.
Benefits of Click Tracking
Enabling click tracking helps you:
- Identify which specific links are clicked by recipients.
- See which contacts are engaging with your content.
- Measure the number of clicks each link receives.
Default Behavior
Click tracking is disabled by default in the CRM. To use it, you must manually enable it for each email campaign.
Why Use Click Tracking?
Understand Subscriber Engagement
Click tracking helps you gauge how subscribers interact with your content. By analyzing which links are clicked, you can tailor future emails to better match audience interests.
Analyze Link Performance
Track which links perform best to optimize your email layout and content strategy, focusing on elements that drive the most engagement.
Where Click Tracking Does Not Work
Click tracking may not function under these conditions:
- If not enabled during email send or scheduling.
- In test emails—send a dummy campaign to test functionality.
- For trigger links, as they use a separate redirection system.
- On non-HTTP/HTTPS URLs (e.g., mailto links or anchor links).
- On system-generated links like unsubscribe or preview links.
- If links contain syntax errors or typos.
- For magic links with custom values—test with dummy campaigns.
How to Use Click Tracking
