Monitoring Domain Health and Email Performance
Understanding the Email Services Dashboard
The Email Services dashboard provides agencies with a comprehensive view of domain sending health and sub-account performance. This centralized interface dynamically adjusts based on your domain's current health status, offering insights into deliverability metrics and actionable data to maintain optimal email performance.
Domain Overview and Metrics
For dedicated domains, the dashboard displays four essential sending metrics. These benchmarks help you identify deliverability issues early and track your domain's health over time.
- Delivery Rate: The percentage of emails successfully delivered. Aim to keep this above 95%.
- Bounce Rate: The percentage of emails that could not be delivered. Keep this under 2%.
- Spam Complaint Rate: The percentage of delivered emails marked as spam. Maintain this below 0.1%.
- Open Rate: The percentage of delivered emails that were opened. Target a rate above 20%.
Domain Health States
Your domain can be in one of six health states, each with visual indicators and recommended actions. The state is automatically determined based on recent sending metrics.
How Health States Are Determined
The CRM evaluates three key signals from your domain's sending activity:
- Bounce Rate: Upgrade if under 2%, downgrade if exceeds 2%.
- Spam Complaint Rate: Upgrade if under 0.1%, downgrade if exceeds 0.1%.
- Open Rate: Upgrade if above 15%, downgrade if below 15% (indicating low engagement).
Upgrades occur when all signals stay within thresholds over time. Downgrades happen when thresholds are breached. Domains improving after a Critical state enter Recovering before reaching Healthy. New domains start in the New state until sufficient sending history is built.
Health State Details
- Healthy: All metrics within healthy thresholds. Your domain is performing well. Continue regular monitoring.
- At Risk: One or more metrics approaching their limits. Review sending practices and list hygiene to prevent further downgrades.
- Critical: Metrics have breached critical thresholds. Immediate action is required to address bounce rates and spam complaints.
- New: Recently provisioned and building sending history. Sending limits may apply during warm-up.
- Recovering: Improving after a Critical state. Maintain healthy metrics to continue upward trend.
- Shared Domain: Sends on shared infrastructure. Dashboard shows aggregate health. Upgrade to a dedicated domain for independent management.
Domain Health History
The health history panel displays how your domain's health state has changed over time, showing upgrades and downgrades at a glance. Green indicators represent improvements, while orange indicators show declines. Hover over any indicator to see detailed information about what triggered the change.
Sub-account Performance
For shared domains, the Sub-account performance section groups accounts into three health buckets:
- Healthy: Metrics within acceptable thresholds.
- At Risk: Showing early signs of degraded health.
- Critical: Requiring immediate attention.
Searching and Navigating Sub-accounts
Click any health bucket to expand it. Use the search field to filter accounts by name in real time. If no match is found, the panel displays a message suggesting you try a different name or clear your search. Clicking any account redirects you to its Email Services page for detailed metrics. The first 20 accounts load immediately, with additional accounts loading automatically as you scroll.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between a dedicated and a shared domain?
A dedicated domain is exclusively for your agency, with health determined solely by your sending behavior. A shared domain pools sending across multiple accounts, meaning health can be influenced by other senders.
How quickly does the dashboard reflect changes in my sending metrics?
Metrics typically update within 24 hours of a sending event. Health state transitions may take a short processing window after thresholds are breached.
My domain is in the Critical state. What should I do first?
Start by reviewing your bounce rates and spam complaints to identify and address the underlying issues.
