Using Mailgun for Email Verification in Your CRM
Understanding Email Verification with Mailgun
To improve email deliverability and maintain clean contact data, your CRM can integrate with Mailgun to verify email addresses. This service automatically checks whether an email address is valid and deliverable when it first enters your system. You can also enable a re-verification feature that re-checks email addresses every 90 days, as email validity can change over time.
Important Note on Cost: This is a paid service provided by Mailgun, not a free feature of the CRM. Charges are billed directly to your Mailgun account based on their current pricing (typically per email verified). Enabling this feature will incur costs.
Enabling Email Verification

Viewing Verification Results
To see the verification status for a specific contact:
- Open the contact's record.
- Scroll down the right-hand side of the contact profile.
- Click the envelope icon. A green indicator signifies a valid email. A red indicator means the email is invalid, and an accompanying message will explain the reason (e.g., bounced, too old, unsubscribed).
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the verification process work?
When a new email address enters the CRM—through a form, survey, calendar booking, chat widget, or when you manually send an email after verification is enabled—it is automatically sent to Mailgun for validation. If re-verification is enabled, every email in the system is re-checked on a continuous 90-day cycle.
Is there a cost for this service?
Yes. Email verification is a paid Mailgun service. Your connected Mailgun account is charged per email verification according to Mailgun's current pricing structure. The CRM itself does not charge for this feature.
Does re-verification cost extra?
Yes. Each re-verification check is a separate lookup performed by Mailgun and is billed the same as an initial verification.
Will re-verification check my old contacts?
Once enabled, the 90-day re-verification cycle applies to all email addresses in that sub-account, not just new contacts added after the feature is turned on.
Can I disable re-verification later?
Yes. You can return to the sub-account's Email Advanced Settings at any time and switch the Enable Re-verification toggle off.
