Customizing the On Submit Confirmation Message

What Is the On Submit Message?

The On Submit message is the confirmation screen that appears immediately after a contact submits a form, survey, or quiz in your CRM. Instead of showing a generic or plain text confirmation, you can design a fully branded, responsive message that matches your visual identity and provides a polished thank-you experience.

Benefits of Customizing On Submit Messages

Rich Formatting Options

Use the built-in editor to add headlines, subtext, bold and italic styling, font sizes, colors, emojis, links, and images. You can structure your message with bulleted or numbered lists for better readability.

Brand Consistency

Maintain a consistent look and feel by customizing fonts, font weights, padding, margins, and corner radius to align with your brand guidelines.

Background Blur Overlay

Improve text legibility by enabling a background blur effect, which softens busy backgrounds. You can also choose a solid or transparent color for the message box.

Device-Specific Styling

Style the confirmation message separately for desktop and mobile devices to ensure optimal readability and appearance across all screen sizes.

Live Preview

See your changes in real time against the actual background as you edit, so you can fine-tune the design before publishing.

No Extra Pages Needed

Design professional post-submission experiences without creating separate thank-you pages or setting up redirects.

How to Customize an On Submit Message

Follow these steps to create and style your On Submit confirmation message:

  1. Log in to your CRM sub-account.
  2. Navigate to Sites > Forms/Surveys/Quizzes > Builder.
  3. Click + Add Form/Survey/Quiz to create a new item, or click the three-dot menu () next to an existing form, survey, or quiz and select Edit to open the Builder.
  4. Customize your form, survey, or quiz as needed, then go to SettingsOn Submit.
  5. From the dropdown, select Message.
  6. Use the rich text editor to write your headline and subtext. Apply formatting such as text size, color, alignment, lists, links, images, and custom values.
  7. In the Message Styling section, set the background color, text weight, and corner radius. Adjust margin and padding as desired.
  8. Toggle Background Blur on or off. Note: This option is only available when an image is set as the background.
  9. Switch between Desktop and Mobile views to style each independently.
  10. Use the preview panel to review your customizations.
  11. Click Save in the builder when finished.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use both a message and a redirect at the same time?

No. You must choose one default behavior—either a message or a redirect. However, conditional logic can override the default and show a different message or redirect if specific conditions are met.

Do workflows depend on the On Submit message?

No. Workflows triggered by form, survey, or quiz submissions run independently of the visual confirmation message.

Why don’t images or custom values render in the preview?

Some custom values and dynamic content only resolve during actual submissions. The preview may not display these elements, but they will appear correctly for contacts.
