Using Math Calculations in Forms and Surveys
About Math Calculations
You can now add custom mathematical calculations directly into your forms and surveys. This feature allows you to create a Score field that performs real-time calculations based on the values entered into other numerical or monetary fields within the same form. This is useful for creating quizzes, generating quotes, calculating totals, or any other scenario that requires instant computation.
How to Add a Math Calculation
Adding the Score Field
In your form or survey builder, locate the Score field type in the Quick Add panel. Drag and drop it into your form layout.
Setting Up the Calculation
After adding the Score field, you can define the calculation formula. You can build expressions using other numerical and monetary fields from your form. The formula editor supports inline cursor editing for precise control.
Using the Formula Editor
You can click anywhere in the formula to place your cursor and make edits directly. Use the arrow keys to move the cursor one character at a time. Press the Home key to jump to the beginning of the formula, or the End key to jump to the end. This allows you to modify specific parts of the calculation without having to retype the entire expression.
Previewing the Calculation
Use the preview mode to test your form. As you enter values into the numerical fields, the Score field will update in real-time to display the result of your calculation.
Supported Field Types
The math calculation feature currently works with the following field types:
- Numerical fields
- Monetary fields
Advanced Uses
The calculated score can be used to power other features within the CRM:
- Conditional Logic: Use the score value to show or hide certain fields or sections of the form.
- Workflows: Trigger specific actions in automations based on the calculated score, such as redirecting a user to a different webpage or disqualifying a submission.
